I am purely Loveless - Dorset early 1800s but have been amazed at the number of names, non Loveless, that I have come across that are tied up with my line so you never know. Cheers, Carol

However, there are not a lot of us on the List, but you never know.......Good luck with your searching - sorry I can't help personally. Carol Park (Loveless).

    1. [TOLPUDDLE-L] Re: Content of TOLPUDDLE Mailing List
    2. Geoff Riggs
    3. Hi all, WHO, WHEN and HOW I'm a new subscriber to TOLPUDDLE-D, having been pointed in itsdirection by Donna King a few days ago. I'd previously emailed Donna with an "off-list" reply to her request for info on the DORSET list re LOVELESS in Tolpuddle, and she posted relevant extracts to the TOLPUDDLE list on 24Apr. WHY and WHERE I joined because I'm conducting a RIGGS One-Name Study, and the "ancestral home" of RIGGS seems in the mid-1600s to be the area centralised around Cheselbourne, which includes Tolpuddle, Puddletown, etc. As part of my Study, I've extracted almost all the church register entries for Dorset parishes at the Dorchester County Record Office which relate to RIGGS. WHAT But have I made the right choice. I've just done what I should have done before subscribing - searched through the List's archived messages, (by visiting http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl and keying in TOLPUDDLE as the initial search term) It seems that all the messages relate to LOVELESS and/or LOVELACE and cover not just TOLPUDDLE but their descendants in other villages/counties/countries even. Is it therefore truly a TOLPUDDLE List or should its title be the LOVELESS List ? IMHO, I suspect the latter in the light of the following extract from a message I discovered in the archives posted by the previous list-owner:- >>>> Date: Mon, 4 Jan 1999 15:02:17 -0500 From: "Wendy L. Miller" <[email protected]>To: [email protected] Message-ID: <[email protected]> Subject: [TOLPUDDLE-L] .... Janice, if you get this e-mail, we're a new list devoted to finding out more about Lovelesses in England, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. 3. Greetings All. Plse find below a couple of Loveless marriages to RIGGS. These were sent to me by Geoff Riggs (see below): 5. Anne LOVELESS married George RIGGS TOL 1794Dec24 Witness: Robert STANDFIELD 6. Anna LOVELESS married Charles RIGGS TOL 1862Mch4. (Charles was grandson of the above George who married Anne LOVELESS) Anna's father: Stephen LOVELESS labourer Witnesses: Stephen & Jane LOVELESS Anna was born circa 1844 I've reconstructed the various family relationships for the RIGGS of Tolpuddle and Affpuddle, one of which includes items 5 and 6 back to the George in item 5's parents (his father was born circa 1738) but no further. FROM YOUR PAGE ON THE LOVELESS FAMILY OF TOLPUDDLE, DORSET, ENGLAND THE ANNE IN ITEM 5 MAY BE THE DAUGHTER OF JOHN LOVELESS AND JUDITH HIBBS: She was buried in TOL 1860Feb6 "age 83" which means she would have been born circa 1776/1777, but bear in mind the age quoted at death/on burial is often a year or two out. Therefore she could be the ANN LOVELESS you show as "b.1778" In the first recorded census of 1841, she was living with William (one of her sons) and his family in Affpuddle. I have reconstructed some 120 descendants of George and Anne ! Hope this is of help. Love your web pages, and also the http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~lovelace/ site which you link to and looks extremely professional !!! Best wishes Geoff Riggs webmaster of: http://relative-links.genealogy.org http://welcome.to/Gwent.FHS http://welcome.to/AFHS.Wales This e-mail is made of 100% recycled electrons The Ann Loveless from Para 5 maybe one of mine but I don't believe that Anna Loveless is? Any suggestions. Regards Donna King oldest Loveless ancestor - John Loveless born circa 1751 in Tolpuddle, Dorset, England

    2. Carol Park & Brian Vernon
    3. Hi Donna - a very late Happy Easter and yes I am subscribed with List - just had a couple of weeks without modem -again!! We seem to be jinxed in the modem department here. The wonderful Irene has found out some great info on my Loveless line which I would like to share - with particular interest in Elizabeth Hollick's Loveless line perhaps......and maybe yours too Donna?? I have Henry Loveless m. Sally Clark(e) - 5.8.1829, Axmouth Devon. This is on the border with Dorset and I am told by relations that our family has connections with Bridport Loveless's (this is about 10 miles from Axmouth I believe.) They had 3 children = Eliza b. 1830. Sarah Ann b. 1833 William Henry Clark (my gt. gt. grandfather) b. 1836. The family moved to Kent in the mid 1830s which makes me wonder whether they were related or connected to Martyrs family in some way and moving a dramatic distance around the time of the Martyrs Trial and convictions....? I know there was a certain amount of shame attached to the name due to the convictions. Anyway, if anybody has any Clark Loveless/Kent links, do let me know. Happy hunting, Carol Park

I am now wandering through the colonies here, gathering documentation for my ancestors who homesteaded in Nebraska and Kansas. I am grateful for list, and will post my info again, soon, in hopes of tracking them down. I am still trying to connect to those Tolpuddle Martyrs! Linda Banks of Minneapolis, MN

    3. Greetings and Happy Easter to all. My name is Donna King and I'm the Tolpuddle List Manager - I took over from Wendy Miller. I'm still learning all there is to know about List Management so please be patient with me. This list is for the Loveless/Lovelace surname in England, although it carries the Tolpuddle name for lack of any other. As lately there has not been very much activity on this list, and in case I have accidently unsubscribed anyone, I would ask you to do the following. Plse post a msg to this list acknowledging that you have received my posting. This will help me to determine who is listening. Thanks Donna King [email protected] http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Park/3288 oldest Loveless ancestor is John Loveless, born circa 1751 and married Judith Hoare in 1773
