HI Donna thanks for your response. I should know the answer to this, but what actually is the scope of this list? Is it for Loveless research, or Martyr research (eg Brine Standfield, Hammett, Loveless descendents) , or people from the Tolpuddle Dorset area? At any rate, I have done quite a bit of research that is Tolpuddle Martyr related in Ontario amd would be glad to help someone with specific questions, be they Brine, Standfield or Loveless. regards, Geoff
Geoff - thanks for your posting. Sorry these surnames are not familar to me. My Lovelesses married Hibbs, Hoare, Bartlett, Sanson or Sansom, Legg, Cornish, Cake, and White. Who on this list has the Canadian connection for Loveless/Lovelace? My research hasn't gotten that far. Susan, can you help with this? I know that you have been researching the Tolpuddle Martyrs in Ontario. Perhaps it would be useful if we all knew who is researching what where? Any suggestions gratefully received. I would like to see this list become active and productive. Hi, I am looking for connections to the Lovelesses from Callander, Crabb, and Cooper, particularly in Ontario and Ohio. Andrew Callander married two Loveless women: first Sarah in 1873, dau of John Loveless and Thirza Sylvester, and then Geneva(?) in 1901, dau of Thomas Loveless and Mary Ann Crabb. It is believed Andrew lived with his first wife in London and his second in Ohio. A Sarah Ann Loveless (1827-1865) married a John Crabb. Who are they? How do they relate to John and Thirza? It is believed they lived in London, Ont Did one of Robert Loveless's(1800-1883) daughters marry a Cooper (name, not profession)? This Robert was a brother of the TM's and lived in London Ont. Thanks and regards, Geoff
Hi Geoff Joyce Marlow says in her book on the martyrs that Joseph joined his brother James to live with George and James Loveless at New House Farm in 1839 she does not mention him being married then. Best Wishes David
Hi Geoff I can't help directly with your request but Joyce Marlow does say in her book that Joseph Brine had gone to live at New House farm in Essex in 1839 where he lived with George and James Loveless and his older brother James she makes no mention of his being married then. best wishes David -----Original Message----- From: Geoff <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: 19 June 1999 19:05 Subject: [TOLPUDDLE-L] Standfield and Brine >Hi, >TM James Brine had a brother Joseph Parnacott Brine. Hi, TM James Brine had a brother Joseph Parnacott Brine. They emigrated to Canada with TM's George and James Loveless in 1844. Does anyone know who Ann and Susan Standfield married, daughters of TM Thomas? Was Joseph married when he came, and if so to whom? It is understood that he married a Jane Laidlaw in Canada, but I think this may be a second wife. Thanks, and regards, Geoff
COMPUTER PRAYER =============== Every evening as I'm laying here in bed This tiny little prayer keeps running through my head: God bless my mum and dad and bless my little pup And look out for my brother when things aren't looking up. And God, there's one more thing I wish that you could do Hope ya don't mind me asking but please bless my 'puter too?? Now I know that's not normal to bless a mother board But just listen a second while I explain to you, my Lord You see, that little metal box holds more than odds & ends Inside those small compartments rest hundreds of my 'BEST FRIENDS' Some it's true I've never seen and most I've never met We've never exchanged hugs or shared a meal as yet.... I know for sure they like me by the kindness that they give And this little scrap of metal is how I travel to where they live By faith is how I know them much the same as you I share in what life brings them from that our friendship grew "PLEASE" take an extra minute from your duties up above To bless this scrap of metal that's filled with so much love!
Hi Carol I can add to your list of stray Loveless/Lovelace's. You never said if they were births/marriages or deaths. I took them as births. To everybody, never take my research as accurate, they might be wrong but this is the closest I can get. I can add families to these people if anyone wants more. >From Irene freezing my buns off in Victoria Australia. Irene, Thanks for your posting. Like Irene has said - Post your family trees and keep your fingers crossed that someone somewhere has some information on your family. I did and Irene was great and she not only pointed me in the right direction but handed me some of my family. I would really like to help Irene find her Robert. So if any of you have any information that will help Irene, plse pass it to her directly or post it to the list. Irene, I will check my 1881 census and will let you know if I come across anything. Hi Irene, good to see YOUR family on the website. Hope someone might come up with something! I have been looking over my old Catherine House Index (England Registration) and have various 'odd' Lovelesses from the Bridport area that might interest someone - doesn't look too hopeful for Roberts tho'. Anyway - I have following names/places/and I have the C.House Reg Nos. if anyone is interested Elizabeth Ann 1867 - Bridport Richard C. 1866 Bridport Walter H. 1866 Bridport Sarah A 1866 Dorchester Reuben Stoodley 1867 Bridport James Sansom Dorchester 1867 Frederick Alban 1867 Weymouth William George 1868 Bridport William Loveless 1838 Bridport Happy hunting, Carol
Hi again I don't know that I have ever posted my family and maybe, just maybe, there is a relo out there waiting for me. On another mailing list they did a rollcall ( this means posting your interests) with great success so if you are out there and wondering why your family hasn't been mentioned on this site or maybe like me you have been just living in hope, follow my lead and post your family. I know some of you have posted your interests and you have all had answers and some great success from your postings. So it does work. At my last count there was about thirty people subscribed to this mailing list so come on gang lets see who you are all looking for. Here goes, this is my family, any help or advise would be greatly appreciated. My Robert is a very difficult to find and I have been searching for him for five years now. I was hoping that my Robert was the cousin of the Tolpuddle Martyr Loveless's living in London in the 1830's that is mentioned in books about the Tolpuddle Martyrs, but I won't hold my breath. My family story like a lot of the rest of your is that we connect to the Tolpuddle Martyrs. My ggg grandfather was Robert William Loveless born between 1791-1805 in Sommerset Bristol England. Robert married Elizabeth Withers in 1830 at St Giles Cripplegate London. Their children are listed as being born in Surrey, in the census they are living in Bermondsey London and they were all christened at St John's Horsleydowns Bermondsey London. They are- Anne B 1830 ? Maria B 1830? Elizabeth B 1832 William B 1834 John Robert B 1837 D 1837 John Robert B 1841 (twin) Ellen (Ellia) B 1841 (twin) Thomas Walter B 1843 my gg grandfather. Most of the family migrated in the 1850's to Australia. Maria went to New Zealand and Anne and Ellen seemed to have stayed in England. Robert, Elizabeth the boys and Elizabeth settled in Castlemaine Victoria. Thanks for reading this folks. I look forward to seeing lots of posting, well fingers crossed. Bye Irene
Hi gang I had an interesting email from a fellow name Donald Loveless from Montana U.S.A. He is just starting out with his family tree and we can all remember what that was like. His grandfather was FIRMAN LOVELESS born 1901 in Kalispell Montana. He has been told that Firman's parents came from London England and that they may have been watchmakers. If there is anyone out there that could help here it would be greatly appreciated. Bye for now Irene in freezing cold, blowing a gale, Victoria Australia. First day of the ski season YUCK!
Hi Folks! The following is for your information. For those of you who may not know (and even those who do), RootsWeb has developed "Resource Clusters" .... websites containing links and search boxes for all the various resources available on any RootsWeb server. We now have Surname Resource sites and US County Resource sites. http://resources.rootsweb.com/surnames/ http://resources.rootsweb.com/USA/ Part of the process in developing these sites was to fill out or make full GenConnect suites for each of the top 10K surnames from the RSL, and also for every US county. (a suite of boards is one of each type: query, bibles, bios, deeds, obits, pensions, wills). Some of you may have only one or more of the "types" of boards for your chosen surname or county. We have now created all the other "types" to fill the suite. If you'd like to request that you be allowed to monitor these new boards, we've provided you with "Adoption Request Forms". If you're interested, please visit the appropriate form ...... Hi Donna this is what I have on John. Yes he is the eldest child of Thomas and Dinnah Loveless John B 1786. I think I was wrong with him marrying Mary Ann (Ann) Moore, this is what was on the large tree I have but I now believe he may have married Mary Ann Way 23/4/1812 at Tolpuddle. John and his brother William were flaxdressers in Bridport in 1834, John and Mary Ann migrated to Canada, Mary Ann died at sea on the way over in 1865. John's children settled in Ontario Canada, Girard Ohio and Trumbull Ohio. I have lots of branches of this family and would love to hear from anyone that thinks they descend from this family. Hi guys. I believe that a John Loveless was a flax dresser from Bridport. He was related to George and James Loveless and perhaps a brother? I'm not sure of the direct relationship. Okay just going through some of my old emails from you Irene. John Married Mary Ann Moore or Ann Moore. Flax dresser Bridport 1834. Born Tolpuddle in 1786 - mother Dinah Loveless (nee Stickland), father Thomas Loveless.. So therefore, he was the oldest brother - oldest child of 11. I'm having technical difficulties with my Southwestern disc, which has Dorset county on, for my 1881 census. Hopefully, I can replace it. Looks like Bridport might be important for the Lovelesses next to Tolpuddle. Dear Irene, Many thanks for all the information. The names themselves are interesting as my grandmother, Marina's granddaughter, was called Sarah Jane and her sister was Harriet Caroline. I find this very interesting. I have ordered the LDS 1881 census so may be able to find them there when it comes. They were not on the 1851 Devon, Warwicks and Norfolk one as some Werst Dorset people are. I live in Hampshire in England but I was born and raised in Bridport. Symondsbury is a village just outside it. Many thanks for your help I will keep you posted of further developments if you are interested. Best wishes Elizabeth (HOLLICK nee ROBERTS) 1 Glyn Way FAREHAM Hants. Hi Elizabeth This all jumped out at me the other day when I was looking for another Loveless.
