I have Benjamin Clifton, born pre 1775 in Southampton Co VA, m. Hannah; their son Benjamin Frank, born 1825 in Wilson Co TN married Harriet B. Grant; their other children were Thomas, b 1846 in TN; Nancy, b 1845 in TN; Jubil, b 1850 in Tn (age 5/12 in 1850 census). As I have no details in these Family Group Sheets I feel sure my entries for these latter three birth years was from the 1850 census. (I had that source for Jubil's age). I would suggest that whomever gave the information/details to the mortitian at the time of his death might be a "key". If the person who gave the information was a "close" relative it's probably correct; otherwise, maybe just a guess. And perhaps that person was the one who had the tombstone engraved... Sorry...
