When I look st the 1850 census, the daughter is Sarah Allen (her middle name) as there are ditto marks right after Sarah Allen, copying the name Carter above and the kids younger than her also have the ditto's. To me they are all Carters.

I agree but apparently ancestry.com did not read or index them as children of Solomon Carter (or Coster). ancestry.com has them indexed as Allens.
