Here's where I stand...I'm hoping someone can help confirm my theories or give me some new information. Joseph C JOHNSON, born 21 May 1814 in Wilson County, TN was the son of Samuel JOHNSON and Sarah (aka Sallie) MOSS. Sarah MOSS was the daughter of Thomas MOSS and Jemima (Barton?), an original settler of Barton's Creek, Wilson County in 1799-1800. She married Samuel JOHNSON in 1798 in Sumner County (as, at that point, Wilson County had not been created from Sumner Co.) Samuel JOHNSON is thought to be the son of John JOHNSON and Elizabeth. There is no real confirmation of this that I can find....yet. Samuel JOHNSON was born in Rowan County, North Carolina in 1779. It appears that Samuel's family moved to Wilson County in the late 1790s. Samuel and Sarah had 9 children - James, Elizabeth Moss, Samuel G, Nancy, John P, Joseph C (my line), Mary C, William B, and Sarah B. All children were born in Lebanon, Wilson County. At one point, it was thought that Samuel JOHNSON was the child of Rev. Richard JOHNSON of Sumner County, but it seems that this cannot be proven, and little is known of that particular Samuel. One theory shows that Samuel died as a child. At some point, various children of Samuel's moved to Missouri, some stayed in Wilson County. Any help you can provide on Samuel's parents, or Sarah's, and their children other than Joseph C would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!! Claire Johnson
