I descend from the lineage of William Harris Jenkins and Jemima Huguley who came to the west Wilson Co. area from near Fairfax, Virginia. He fought in the Battle of 1812. He and Jemima (my g,g, grandparents) are buried in the Castleman Cemetery, but what I have always wondered is how he and similar groups of his time came to Wilson County? Was it by wagon, wagon and rafting, horseback, a combination of all and did he go through Cumberland Gap, follow Boone's Trail thru Kentucky and descend into Tennessee or what. I doubt if anyone actually knows, but who knows what information is out there unless we search? Thanks for any replies. Logan T. My Mullins relatives came by wagon train it is said from Virginia through North Carolina to Rutherford Co TN around 1820. My great-great-great grandfather Joel Mullins was also in the War of 1812 and was crippled and walked with a cane the rest of his life. I don't know if they came through the Cumberland Gap...maybe...since most of them did, didn't they when crossing the mountains. This has been handed down and I have no real proof.
