Tnwilson, Not sure if I'm doing this right - first time responding/writing to the rootsweb.com address. I'm trying to trace the origins of my GGGGrandfather John Sims who was born in VA about 1800, came to Wilson County, TN when very young I believe, married Elizabeth Caplinger in 1824, then moved to Williamson County, IL circa 1838-39. I believe he moved with the Caplinger family and probably other families and settled near Marion, IL. I just saw your posting regarding the Caplinger family. I have an Elizabeth Caplinger born 17 Nov., 1808 who is the daughter of Jacob Caplinger and Barbara Judy. They lived in Illinois. But I have no information as to who she married. Could this be a match?
