    1. Re: [TNWILSON] TNWILSON Digest, Vol 3, Issue 91
    2. I have no information on Henry Reed. However the Agnes M. Carruth is from my wife's side of the family. The information that I am about to give you is from the book "From Whence Ye Came" written by Lela Grant Carruth in 1982. The jest of what she has written concerning the Carruth's is that Walter Carruth being her first generation b. 1703 Belfast, County Antrim, Ireland and d. 1769 Rowen, North Carolina, and his wife Sarah Allison b. 1711 Pensavina and d. 1768 Rowen, North Carolina. Their children were Agnes, Alexander, Ann, John d. 1828, James 1736-1803, and Sarah 1737-1800. James 1736-1803 is the one we will be traceing. James b. 1736 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and d. 1803 in Knox County, Tennessee married in 1765 Margaret Creaghead b. 1738 in Mecklinburg, North Carolina and d. 1781 Beaver Creek, South Carolina. Their children were Alexander Craighead Carruth b 1765 d. 1833, Walter b. 1767 d.1838, James M. b. 1774 d. 1831, william R. b. 1775 d. 1831, and Elizabeth b. aprox. 1800. Now, of the children listed here, all have left wills or court documents transfering land from themselves to their children. All but one that is, and it is William R. b. 1775 and d. 1831. The Agnes M. Carruth you are looking for is not found as being in any court documents. By geathering up all the known Caruths from the time of deaths of James's children, all those left without a parent have been places as belonging to William R. In the 1820 census he had nine children and in the 1830 he had seven. Two had married and were gone by 1830. The book list six of his children Sarah b. 1794, m. Alexander Henry 28 Feb 1825 Samuel C. b. 1800 m. Mary C. Lane 3 Dec 1832 William b. abt 1810 Ann b. abt 1800 Walter b. between 1794-1804 Agnes M m Henry Reed 27 July 1825 The childrens mother was Peggy, no last name, no date of birth or death.
