    3. Sorry, in most of these cases you can not prove any Indian Ancestry....unless you can find I don't know...old jounals...there are many grandma was a *Cherokee Princess* family stories but most of them are not true and unless you are associated with or member of one of the tribes you can't prove you are Indian... You might look on the Guion Miller roll, that was a roll taken in the early 1900s, shows where folks were living at the time the made application for damages they suffered when moved from their homeland etc or suffered from whites taking their land in the east... But I have to tell you, unless you can find documentation that you are indeed Cherokee, you are not recognized by the Federal Government as Cherokee...let's see I think there is one state recognized tribe in AL... The Cherokee in North Carolina now have closed enrollment which means they are not enrolling anyone else, they have a blood quantum as well, which keeps changing so not sure what it is now... Cherokee Nation in Oklahoma requires that you be able to trace back to a Cherokee Ancestor on the Dawes Roll...even if you're Cherokee, if you don't have an Ancestor on that roll, you can not become a Citizen of the Tribe...
