    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: RossSmith53 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.tennessee.counties.wilson/2570/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have read that the area that became Wilso co Tn was originally Washingtonco North Carolina. If I understand it right Wilson co Tn as formed from Sumner co TN which was formed from Davidson co Tn whcih was forme from Washington co TN which was the entire state of Tennessee which at one time was Washington co NC and the NC legislature ceded the entire area that was Washington co NC to orm the state of Tn and at one time the area that was Washington co Tn was Washington co NC. Would anyone know if that is tru and if so if my ancestors settled in Washington co NC about 1780 then the land they bought was in Wilson co Tn in the 1820's. Where would I find the land records where they bought the land in Washington co NC? There is a Washington co NC but it was formed later in another part of NC. When Washingto co NC became Washington co TN then Washington co NC ceased to be a county in NC so where did the land records go?
