I'm looking for information on the Watkins family, who lived in Wilson Co. Thomas Watkins was the father of Frances D. Watkins Simms(born abt 1825) and also had a daughter named Mary. I believe that his wife was Frances Anderson Holcombe, but I'm not sure. Thomas was born about 1797, possibly in Virginia. What I do know is that Thomas is listed in records as giving his daughter Frances D. Simms and his daughter Mary Durham, property in court records. Later his is listed as giving his power of attorney to someone, due to his deafness and bad health. Frances married (Sept 15, 1843)John J. Simms(born July 16, 1823) of Shop Springs/Lebanon. they had 11 children. Frances died in 1865. John remarried(Sept 11, 1869) to Nancy Owen(born March 02, 1844). They too had 11 children. Thomas E. Partlow's WILSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE, CHANCERY COURT RECORDS 1842-1892, has the following entry for Thomas Watkins: Bill of complaint of John Simms, administrator of Thomas Watkins, against V. L. Watkins. Thomas Watkins died intestate in 1872. 21 March 1876 (Chancery Book 1875-1876, Pp. 200-201) There are some other entries for V. L. Watkins, but he is shown only by those initials. He was married to Sarah Loyd, and there is an entry about the Loyd family.
