MAHOLLAND was the son of JOHN MAHOLLAND and his wife, LUCY SMITH, daughter of EDWARD SMITH and his wife, TABITHA, of Brunswick Co., VA. John and Lucy migrated together with various Smith relatives into Northampton Co., NC, and then to Wake Co., NC, before finally settling in Wilson Co., TN. JOHN MAHOLLAND made his wife May 21, 1830 and it was recorded in Wilson Co., TN., Court, october 28, 1836. [Wills and Inventories, 1834-1837, p. 418f] He mentions: wife, LUCY MAHOLLAND; son WILLIAM MAHOLLAND; daughters BETSY CARTWRIGHT, NANCY CRUTCHFIELD, and SARY (Sarah) CARTWRIGHT. Witnesses were Sion Bass and W. H. Honnell. WILLIAM MAHOLLAND, executor.
