Hi, I am related to these families of Wilson County. I am a descendant of James H. Vaughan and Elizabeth Britt Jennings-Vaughan. Elizabeth Britt was married to George Clem Jennings II and had 4 boys by this marriage. Fountain Pitts Jennings born abt. 1847 in TN, Wilson Co. William Jennings born abt. 1848 same place James Jennings born abt. 1850 same place Clem Jennings Jr. born abt. 1851 same place My James H. Vaughan was a widower for the second time when he married Elizabeth Britt Jennings. James H. Vaughan was first married to Mary Oldham born abt. 1810 died 1855. Date of marriage was Dec. 30, 1833. She had a twin sister and the two sisters were married in a double wedding ceremony. James was born in 1814 at Vaughn's Gap, Davidson County son of Johnson Vaughan. James immigrated to Brazil after the Civil War and settled in Santarem, Para, Brazil taking with him some of his children from his first marriage. James H. and Mary Oldham had 11 children all born in Wilson County, TN: Eliza Lowe Vaughan (Lowe was the family name for James's mother) b. Jan. 7, 1835, m. Etheldred Phillips Horn II. She died April 6, 1920 in Davidson Co, TN Darthula D. Vaughan, born June 9, 1836, Wilson Co. Medorah Frances Vaughan born October 10, 1837. Dee Johnson Vaughan, born April 16, 1838, married Nov. 8, 1866 to Marietta Walker. He died March 28, 1921 in Nashville, Davidson County, TN Mary E. Vaughan, born Sept. 26, 1840 Richard Vaughan, born June 1, 1843 James W. Vaughan, born Dec. 3, 1844 Charles Henry Vaughan, born Jan. 22, 1847, married August 22, 1872 in Santarem, Para, Brazil to Leila Adalaide Riker. He died in 1933 in Davidson County, TN. John William Vaughan born March 30, 1849 Hugh F. Vaughan born February 9, 1852 Etheldred Horn Vaughan born February 27, 1855, married November 22, 1879 in Santarem, Para, Brazil to Elizabeth Elvira Pitts. He died Jan. 21, 1921 in Nashville, Davidson County, TN Second wife of James H. Vaughan was Susan Petway, no record of any children. Third wife of James H. Vaughan was Elizabeth Wilson Britt Jennings-Vaughan, she was born in 1827 in TN. They were married July 1858. Children of James H. and Eliza Britt Vaughan: Amy Gray Vaughan Rebecca Gray Vaughan - these two girls were adopted by the Vaughan family after the death of their english parents the Gray family that immigrated to Brazil. A third sister was adopted by the name of Esther and brought back to the USA. If memory serves me right it was the Mendenhall family that adopted Esther. Amy Gray Vaughan was married to Charles Franklin (he was from another english family that immigrated to Brazil). They had one son Benjamin Franklin that married Lillian Vaughan Pitts in Brazil. Benjamin Franklin's mother Amy Gray died of tuberculoses. His father moved to the northeast of Brazil and remarried again to a native of Brazil, he had many children by this union. Benjamin was left with the Vaughan family until his father's return from the northeast. Clemencia (after the name Clement) Vaughan was never married, she died in Santarem, Para, Brazil. Hardieth Ella Vaughan, was also never married, she died in Santarem. Edward Willis Vaughan born 1859 in Wilson County, TN, died June 29, 1898 in Santarem, Para, Brazil. Martha J. Vaughan (known also as Amelia and Mattie) born July 20, 1863 in Wilson County, TN, married Sept. 21, 1889 in Santarem, Para, Brazil a man from the state of Ceara, Brazil by the name of Joao (John) Freire Machado. They had 4 children from this union. Felix Vaughan married Elizabeth Pitts on Nov. 22, 1879. He was born in Wilson County, TN. Benjamin Vaughan - he was a twin with his brother Edward Willis. Benjamin was married to Anna Maria Nobre (or Maria Anna Nobre?) in Santarem, Para, Brazil. Benjamin and Edward were born around 1859/1860. Sarah B. Vaughan (Sallie) is my great-grandmother. She was born Jan. 26, 1861 in Wilson County, TN. She married April 20, 1884 in Santarem, Para, Brazil to Fountain Elliott Pitts. She died in 1944. Fountain Elliott Pitts was the son of doctor Josiah H. Pitts that served in 11th TN Infantry/Calvary?, he was the son of the famous Rev. Fountain Elliott Pitts born in Georgetown, KY. His father was a reverend for the Methodist Episcopal Church in TN. Fountain also lived in Wilson County and had kins in Wilson County. Some of the descendants of Sarah Vaughan and Fountain E. Pitts are leaving to go to Brazil in June and returning in July. We are going to travel to the little city where our ancestor lived in exile. When I return I should have more information to share.
