In Nashville, an hour or so in the Genealogy Room of the new Metropolitan Nashville Library on Church Street will be WELL worth your time. Parking is available in the parking garage directly behind the library, and the first 30 minutes are free; the rest is very reasonable. You will find some things here that are not available in the State Archives. You can easily walk between the Metro Nashville Library and the TN Archives, which is across the street from the Capitol building - the Westt side. Also, don't overlook the public libarary in Lebanon, on the Old Lebanan Road. It is the only place I've ever found a copy of "The Doormsday Book", which is very valuable to those researching surnames in England during te reign of Charlemagne (sp???) Helen Gant Donald.
