    3. I live in Dyer Co. which adjoins Gibson Co. on the West. Gibson Co. was established as a county in 1823, the county seat being Trenton (formerly Gibsonport). Dyer TN is a community about 7 miles north of Trenton in Gibson Co. The county was formed from Indian lands. Homesteading and the purchase of land from the Government was probably the biggest drawing card early on. The land was very good for cultivation of all types of crops. Farming was good. Initially it was very sparsely populated. All of these factors combined pulled from Middle and East Tennessee which was by then becoming more and more populated .Finally, it was on direct route to the Mississippi (which Dyer Co. borders), Arkansas lands, and Texas. Gibson Co. also borders Madison Co., Weakley Co. Carroll Co. Crockett Co. and Obion Co. -----Original Message----- From: Kevin Moore [SMTP:kevin@arizonadoves.com] Sent: Wednesday, May 08, 2002 11:15 PM To: TNWILSON-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [TNWILSON] Dyer, Tennessee I also have many Wilson County ancestors who migrated to Gibson County. Does anyone know what the push-pull factors for this migration were?
