My grandfather, Jere Dock Whitman, died about 1898-99. He and his family were living in either Wilson or Sumner county at the time. Without knowing the exact date of his death, would it be possible to lookup an obituary from a newspaper that was in existence at that time? I know he was living in Wilson County in 1894 when my father was born, and it is possible he lived there at the time of his death. However, my grandmother is listed as a widow living in Sumner County in 1900. Any info on my grandfather from 1880 - 1900 would be very helpful. The last record I have of him is on the 1880 census of DeKalb County (Dowelltown community.) Thank you. Betty Whitman McClaran
