    2. This is in response to the query about Rebecca RISEN and her possible connection with the SYPERT family of Wilson Co. TN. Mary Ann SYPERT b. 1823 in Wilson Co. TN was the daughter of William L. Sypert (1793-1869). William's parents were Thomas Sypert of Augusta Co. VA and Sarah Mary LASATER. William had two wives (at least), Elizabeth CANNON and Patsy DEW. There is a Wilson Co. TN record showing that "William L. SYPERT married Elizabeth JUSKEEP in Bowling Green KY on 12-11-1839. They lived together in Lebanon (TN) until her elopement in June 1846. Said William is seeking a divorce. Jan 1851). I don't know if this is Mary Ann and Roxalana's father but assume it is. The SYPERT family migrated from Chatham Co. NC to Wilson Co. TN in the early 1800's. Mary Ann Sypert married James RIZEN (RISEN). She had a sister Roxalana who married Peter Rizen in 1830. I have not yet located any further information about the Rizens. I wonder if James and Peter were brothers?? Let me know if there is any other specific information you need. I will be glad to share what I have.

    3. Thomas L. Partlow's WILSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE, CHANCERY COURT RECORDS 1842-1892, has the following entries which may be helpful. 1. Bill of complaint of John C. Sypert and Elizabeth Cook, executors of W. L. Sypert, against John J. Strong and wife Roxanna of Davidson Cunty; Mary Ann Rison of Gibson County; John Boners and wife Nancy Jane of Coffee County; Sarah Calloway of Henry County; and Thomas Sypert of Stewart County. Said Sarah Calloway and Thomas Sypert are minors. W. L. Sypert departed this life on 24 April 1871. 14 November 1871 (Chancery Book E, Pp. 295-296) 2. Bill of complaint of W. E. S. Cook against John C. Sypert, executor of William C. Dew. William C. Dew died in February 1868, leaving John C. Sypert as his executor. The Babb Farm was to be divided among three of his nieces, to wit, Roxalana Straughn, James Bowers and Mary Ann Rison. The remainder was to be divided equally between the widow, Ann Dew, and John C. Sypert. The complainant is a niece of said William C. Dew and a sister of the defendant. 5 September 1876 (Chancery Book 1876-1892, Pp. 35-37) I believe that Roxanna Strong and Roxalana Straughn are the same, don't you? I have been told that these records are now at the Archives in Nashville, and are probably ready for copying after microfilming. These are not my family. Just doing a lookup for you.
