I would like to find info on the COMPTON family of Wilson County, TN. Two of my ancestors, Alexander Steele and John Steele (brothers and I'm descended from BOTH of them!) married Compton women. Alexander Steele married August 1806 to Lucy Compton. John Steele, per his War of 1812 pension papers, married Jane Compton in Wilson County in 1810. I have been told these women were daughters of William Compton. Do any of you have info on William and a Vinson Compton in Wilson County, TN??? Where did this family originate? Thanks Will
