I have an ancester from Cherry Valley who served in the 5th Tenn Calvary, company B, during the Civil War. I am not where I can get to a book on this. Can someone tell me if this was a Confederate Troop or a Union troop. I had written down Federal but I am uncertain if that is true. I thought all the troops from there were Confederate.
