Hi all, I'm sure a lot of you out there have a lot more experience at this than I so I would like some advice. My gr-grandfather, Francis Marion Hatton Lanier, was married but had an affair with a lady named Margie Knight. Out of that affair, a child was born, my grandfather, Malcolm R. Lanier. When I asked my mother for info on Margie, she couldn't give me any since in those days, affairs were taboo to discuss. Should I pursue info on Margie or should I research his actual wife? If I'm to research Margie Knight, does anyone out there have any info on her or have heard the name? I may have found her in the 1900 Wilson Co., TN census District 15. If this is her, her birth year would be Dec. 1885. The entry I found had her living with grandparents, Elias Jennings and wife Rachel, both born in 1834.
