I am glad to hear from a descendant of William Wright Hunter, who was a brother of my ancestor, Mary Ann Hunter (b. ca. 1853), wife of William Asberry Davis. William Wright and Mary Ann Hunter were children of Edward Nicholas Hunter and Rachel J. Harvel. After Rachel died, "Ned" as he was called, remarried to Mrs. Sarah Ann (Joplin) Tomlinson, widow of James Tomlinson. They lived on Lock 5 Road near Hunter's Point. (Coincidentally, Sarah Joplin and James Tomlinson are also my direct ancestors). Edward N. Hunter was a son of Wright Hunter and his second wife, Elizabeth Chambers. Wright Hunter came to Wilson County from Duplin County, North Carolina, as did the Chambers. Wright and Elizabeth were related, her mother Ann/Annie/Fannie Hunter (wife of Lewis Chambers) being a daughter of Nicholas Hunter of Duplin County. Wright Hunter's father was William Hunter, also of Duplin County. William and Nicholas Hunter of Duplin were believed to have been brothers, and sons of Job Hunter. I have worked on the Harvels without too much success. I think Rachel was very likely the daughter of Peter Harvel (Harvil, Harville), who married Sarah Watkins in Wilson County in 1818. Sarah, or Sally was apparently the daughter of Reece and Rachel (Martin) Watkins, who came from Campbell County, Virginia, first to Smith County, Tennessee, then to Wilson County, Tennessee, and ended up in Butler County, Kentucky. I think William S. Harvel of Butler County, Kentucky was probably Rachel's brother, and a Linda Harvel who married a Ramsey there was likely Rachel's sister. But there is still much to sort out on the Harvels. I would be delighted to exchange information on these folks. Erick Montgomery
Erick, Sorry if I was not clear, I am not a descendant of your lines. I just have a few Wilson Co books and try to do lookups in response to message board queries.
