Hello List Members, I just joined your list and am researching these lines from Wilson County. My paternal great great grandfather was Barnett James SULLIVAN. He was born about 1817 in North Carolina. He married Elizabeth SINCLAIR on December 22, 1838 in Wilson County. She was born about 1812 in TN. I believe, but have no proof, that Barnett is the son of Jesse SULLIVAN, born between 1790-1800. I also think that Elizabeth may be the daughter of James Sinclair (I have also seen this as St. Clair), born between 1770-1780. This Barnett and Elizabeth later moved to Saline County, IL sometime between 1850 and 1860. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Barbara Rhine Crain

Barbara, I am not a Sullivan or Sinclair researcher but I have several Wilson Co books. I find the following: From booklet "Index to Wilson Co Wills, 1802-1861" Jesse Sullivan had a Will in Probate in 1846 J. W. Sullivan had a Will in Probate in 1861 You can order copies of Wills and marriage records from the Wilson Co Archives in Lebanon for a small fee. From "Marriages of Wilson Co TN, 1802-1850" by Edythe Whitley 1. Jesse Sullivan was married to Ann Rice April 16, 1814 by Jacob Sullivan. The bond was issued April 9, 1814 and the bondsman was Holland Sullivan 2. Holland Sullivan married Polly Ozment Sept 12, 1814 with James Ozment bondsman. 3. Jesse Sullivan married Elizabeth Carter July 13, 1820 with Owen Quinby bondsman. It looks like Jacob Sullivan was either a Minister or Justice of the Peace because he performed a few marriages in early Wilson Co. There are only a handful of Sinclair marriages in Wilson Co before 1850. Would you like to see them? I have the 1830, 1840 and 1850 Census of Wilson Co. Would you like lookups from them?
