This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: NOLAN/NOWLIN/NOLIN Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/UiB.2ACI/1331 Message Board Post: In the 1840's, I find both a James and a Mary Nolin in Wilson County with children named William, Patience, Lydia, Robert and James Tiry. In 1844 a James D. Nolin died with these heirs. In 1851 Mary Nolin died with these heirs. Robert A Nolan was my GGF, and I have traced him to these roots, by military records and census. The documents in 1844 and 1851 are all I have on my GGF's parents. They came to TN from South Carolina which was William's place of birth in 1822. Mary indicated NC/SC for her state of birth in the 1850 Census. Does anyone have any knowledge of a burial site or other records. Associated names are Temperance, David and Daniel Nolin or Nowlin. Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thomas E. Partlow's WILSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE, CHANCERY COURT RECORDS 1842-1892, has the following entries for Nowlin, which give basically the same information as you state in your query. These are not my people--just did a lookup for you. Perhaps there is something in these entries which you did not know. 1. Bill of complaint of Daniel Nowlin, administrator of Mary Nowlin, against William Nowlin, David Nowlin, Patience Nowlin, Lydia Ann Nowlin, Mary Nowlin, Robert Nowlin, and Tyree Nowlin, the last four are minor heirs of James Nowlin, deceased; Emily Rutledge, Harriet Rutledge, and Alexander Rutledge, minor heirs of Temperance Rutledge, formerly Temperance Nowlin. The said Mary Nowlin departed this life in June 1851. Said Mary left a tract of land to be divided among her other children. 26 November 1851 (Chancery Court 1865-1867, Pp. 515-523) 2. Bill of complaint of Paulding Anderson against Daniel Nowlin, administrator of James D. Nowlin; and Lydia Ann Nowlin, Mary Nowlin, Robert Nowlin, Tyree Nowlin, the minor heirs of James D. Nowlin. 30 June 1844 (Chancery Book L, Pp. 11-15) Teresa [email protected] ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, February 18, 2006 2:29 AM Subject: Nolan/Nowlin/Nolin 1830's to 1850 Wilson County, TN > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: NOLAN/NOWLIN/NOLIN > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/UiB.2ACI/1331 > > Message Board Post: > > In the 1840's, I find both a James and a Mary Nolin in Wilson County with children named William, Patience, Lydia, Robert and James Tiry.
