Polly HUDSON is mentioned in the 1843 will of her mother, Lavisa SMITH. Mr. Saunders found a court case, 'Levisey Smith v. Charles Smith', from 1839 which relates how Lavisa KEESEE and Charles SMITH had married about 1794 in Virginia, and then moved from there to South Carolina and then Tennessee. They had eight children, five still living. Lavisa alleged that Charles had abandoned her; Charles answered that Lavisa's manner had changed towards him and that she had severed ties with him. They were evidently not reconciled, as she died in 1843, and he moved to Missouri with one of their sons, Champ SMITH, where he died in 1850.
