There were about five Williams families living in the Cainsville area in the 1860s who were related. John L. Williams was the son of David. David Lafayette (1834 in TN to 1907) was the son of Thomas Gardner (5-6-1807 in NC133) and Martha (1816 in NC) Williams.6, 113 He and his wife, Sally John Coleman (1840 to 1915), had the following children: Annie Lou, Ruth, Tennessee, Maude, Thomas Fate (Alfonzo), Tolbert, Betty Mariah (1864), Dora (1868), John L. (1870), Eddy (1872), Theofilous (1874), and Gus (1878).9, 92, 113 The 220 page book is the war experiences of Co. I, 18th TN Infantry, (they called themselves the Cainsville Guards). There were 145 men in the company. I also gathered genealogical info on their parents, the men and their spouses, and their children. It can be bought on the internet at www.mspbooks.com. or 866-457-7379.
Are there any 'Haley's' listed in this book. I think several of my gguncles my have been in the 18th. They were of course from Wilson Co. Wasn't there a Union 18th TN as well?
