Thank you publicly to the many people who wrote and answered my question about who the Byers Dowdy Elementary School is named after. For the sake of those who may search the archive in the future, it is named for two men who were involved in the educational system and are now deceased: Harry M. Byers, who was a long time school board member Roy Dowdy, who was superintendent. of the Special school district Would anyone happen to know who the parents of Harry M. Byers were or when he passed on? I was unable to find him in the Social Security death index which leads me to believe he passed before the 1960's. I am trying to find the descendants of a brother or brothers of Moses A. BYERS ((Aug 8, 1824 TN to May 12, 1898 Norene, Wilson Co TN). He married Lucretia PRICHARD of the Norene area in Wilson Co on April 10, 1848. They only had one child - Sarah Ann (May 7,1850 to Nov 30,1867, both in Norene, TN). Sarah Ann married Charles L. ROBERTSON (Apr, 1840 to after 1900) and died at age seventeen a week after giving birth to twin girls. One of the twin - Sarah Laura ROBERTSON (Nov 23, 1867 to May 30, 1882) - died without issue. The other twin - Martha Flaura ROBERTSON (Nov 23, 1867 to Aug 26, 1896 both in Norene, TN) - married James Henry WHITE about 1891. They had three children, two girls and a boy. The boy died in infancy and the girls are my great-aunt and grandmother. I believe Moses BYERS had at least one brother because his widow had a neice, Martha A. BYERS (b 12/1886 TN) in her home in the 1900 census (Wilson Co TN 18th District, V76, ED 148, Sheet 11, Line 13) Renee
