Does anyone know of a group of researchers who is interestd in Early Smith/Wilson/DeKalb County history? I'm researching th CANDLER family who lived right on th Smith/Wilson County line - then later this was Dekalb. I've found a fw old records, but thir kids were married before the oldest known records books were began. Zedekiah Candler (c1745-c1825) On the 1820 Fd Cenusus in Smith County son John Candler (c1774-1847) an 1814 grant from State of TN, no record of this grant in Wilson County rcords until some tax records beginning in the 1830's John Candler and wife Martha (born in SC) joined Salem Baptist Church in 1810. son Winston Candler (c1800-c1860) was on Smith census in 1840. He was in Macon County on the 1850.
I found the Byers Dowdy Elementary School on the USGS Geographic Information Service page for Lebanon TN. Does anyone know who this school was named for? Renee
