Hi. I've just found something, so subscribed to your lists... This is not the actual will... I haven't seen it, nor do I have access to it... NANCY E. HILL Will... written 7 January 1874. Lists Heirs: husband, F. T. A. Hill; brother, W. F. Todd; Sallie P. Todd, (niece) daughter of William F. & Juliette H. Todd; A. E. Ligon, (niece) daughter of W. B. and Mary C. Ligon; and the Silver Springs Congregation. Mentions money going to her from the estate of J. B. Scobey, and money going to her from her dear, deceased sister, Mary E. Ligon, with which she wants tombstones erected at the graves of her sister and her dear little Earl (I think "her" means her sister's son) and my dear little boys. Her executor was husband, F. T. A. Hill. The will was recorded 5 March 1874, and this excerpt was on pp 207-208 Wills & Inventories 1871-1878 in the book "The people of Wilson County, Tennessee, 1800- 1899" by Thomas E. Partlow. My questions to the good people on your lists are these: Why would J. B. Scobey give money to Nancy E. Hill? Was she a granddaughter or niece to him? If she is a granddaughter, then Mary C. or E. (she's called both here) and William F. are also grandchildren... Mary is deceased, is William? Is that why she mentions their daughters? Is the J. B. Scobey mentioned John Berry Scobey who was b April 9, 1809 and d Aug 1870 in a sawmill accident in Wilson Co., TN.? His 1st wife was Sarah Caroline "Sallie" Sweatt and his 2nd wife was Sarah Neal. How are John G. Ligon and W. B. Ligon related? My notes: John G. Ligon inventory. James E. Scobey, administrator. Recorded 13 Jan 1867 p. 69 from Wills & Inventories 1866-1871 from "The People of Wilson Co, TN 1800-1899" by Thomas E. Partlow This is James Edward Scobey, Sr., who married Sallie Alice Harris.
