To Kristi Moffitt, Does your book mention the Big Cedar Lick Baptist Church in Wilson Co. TN??? I would be most interested to hear anything about that particular church. Any names of the ministers of that church in the 1820s thru 1840s? Perhaps Rev. James Tompkins???? My ggg grandfather, Lewis C. Hill, was "excluded" from this church in 1838 and again in 1844. Apparently Lewis "disobeyed", didn't attend services on a regular basis, drank liquor and allowed 2 of his slaves to drink liquor, and supported the Anti-Baptist movement. (He ended up joining the Cumberland Presbyterians, don't know if he changed his "wayward ways" or if they were more tolerant) Also, believe that he married his 1st two wives at Big Cedar Lick Baptist Church, Zuritha Rieff in 1829 and Isabell Whitson in 1834. The minister both times was James Tompkins. Kathleen, You can have your library order the microfilm of the minutes of the Big Cedar Lick Baptist Church 1815-1881 from the Tennessee State Archives. I don't know what part of California you are in, but the Georgina Cole Library in Carlsbad ordered it for .50 cents. Kristi, What website has info regarding the OLD TOWN of Linwood, back in the 1800's - I know it only had a post office for about 5 yrs? There was a blacksmith shop there, and a church that burned? My great grandfather's property (Turner) was located near Bobo Road, just off of the Linwood exit near Lebanon. Thanks, Nancy Brown ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kristi Moffitt" <kkcem@blomand.net> To: <tnwilson@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, December 28, 2007 12:40 PM Subject: Re: [TNWILSON] Wilson Co.
