In the book Livingston County Kentucky Vital Statistics Birth Records 1852-1908 (Drennan & Singleton, 1978, p. 60), the following is listed: SANDERSON, not named, born 14 February 1858, white female alive born near Salem Church, f-Thomas H. Sanderson, m-Mary Prowell, pts r same. On p. 70 is: SANDERSON, James, born 5 May 1859, white male alive born near Salem Church, f-Thomas H. Sanderson, m-Mary Prowell, pats r same. On p. 85 is: SANDERSON, Eliza, born 1861 white female alive born near Salem Church, f-Thomas H. SANDERSON, m-Mary Prowell, pats b Tennessee. In Organization Index to Pension Files of Veterans Who Served Between 1861 and 1900 (searched 9/19/94 at Family History Library, Salt Lake City), the following is listed: SANDERSON, Thomas, private, Co. D, 120 Reg't, Ill. Inf. 1863, July 16 - widow and minor filed. Application numbers 26789 and 85603, and certificate numbers 13921 and 69392. According to U.S. Adjutant General's Office, Index to Compiled Service Records of Volunteer Union Soldiers Who Served in Organizations from State of Illinois (FHL microfilm 0881698), Thomas SANDERSON was temporarily attached to Co. B, 78 Ill. Inf. "Cards are filed with 120 Ill. Inf., Co. D." In Adjutant's General's Reports State of Illinois 1861-66 (FHL) is the following: 120th Infantry, Co. D, Private. SANDERSON, Thomas, date of enlistment 15 Aug 1862, date of muster 29 Oct 1862. Residence Gallatin County. Remarks - killed at Greenville, Miss., May 11, 1863.
