Robinson, State Librarian and Archivist:..........Election returns Wilson county 1872 John C. Brown (D) 2,369 A.A. Freeman (R) 1,190 p.308 mentions historian Douglas S Freeman as saying "a good soldier, distinguished alike for courage and promptness." p. 104 mentions a Supt. of school T.H. Freeman's report of 1875.........................Public sentiment in Wilson county is nearly equally divided, with a small majority "I think." says Mr Freeman, "in favor of public schools" p 110 "Wilson county Supt. T.H. Freeman's report of the same year states:"I have established an Institute in our County and I do not believe it would be a success without the adoption of a rule enforcing attendance upon teachers, which I would certainly favor " It was evident, then, that the initial work of the Institutes was to "sell' the teacher on the importance of training. P. 113 lists Superintendents of education Wilson County ................T. H. Freeman;1877-78 p.210 lists T. Harvey Freeman as a Floater or Senator from Wilson. 1895 p 375 mentions Harvey Freeman as chairman at Mt. Juliet, to mobilize the energies of the community." this was a war effort.The county had a $5,000 quota in the YMCA War fund. The Young Ladies Missiionary Society presented a 5 by 8-ft service flag with 17 stars to the Methodist church. This is the total listed for the Freeman name in the book Delia Jones
