    1. Re: [TNWILSON] Looking for info on SANDERSON and CHAMBERS
    2. Shearon, Dolores M.
    3. Michael, I am descended from Daniel SANDERSON's daughter Permelia, who married Houston Aaron SHEARON, and have some information on the family. It's been a couple of years since I did much research with this line, but I believe I may have Thomas' records from NARA. I'd be glad to look up what I have and share with you and correspond further. See below for pension application numbers. Have you located his household's 1860 census listing in Livingston County, Kentucky? Here are a few notes I found quickly from prior research: SEARCHED AT LIVINGSTON COUNTY, KY, COURTHOUSE, 8/16/95: In the book Livingston County Kentucky Vital Statistics and Death Records 1852-1907, the following account is listed: 1858. SANDERSON, no name, white, 1 day, female, farmer's daughter, born near Salem Church, Livingston County, Mary and Thomas H. SANDERSON, died 15 August of cholera infantum, Dr. Linley. In the book Livingston County Kentucky Vital Statistics Birth Records 1852-1908 (Drennan & Singleton, 1978, p. 60), the following is listed: SANDERSON, not named, born 14 February 1858, white female alive born near Salem Church, f-Thomas H. Sanderson, m-Mary Prowell, pts r same. On p. 70 is: SANDERSON, James, born 5 May 1859, white male alive born near Salem Church, f-Thomas H. Sanderson, m-Mary Prowell, pats r same. On p. 85 is: SANDERSON, Eliza, born 1861 white female alive born near Salem Church, f-Thomas H. SANDERSON, m-Mary Prowell, pats b Tennessee. In Organization Index to Pension Files of Veterans Who Served Between 1861 and 1900 (searched 9/19/94 at Family History Library, Salt Lake City), the following is listed: SANDERSON, Thomas, private, Co. D, 120 Reg't, Ill. Inf. 1863, July 16 - widow and minor filed. Application numbers 26789 and 85603, and certificate numbers 13921 and 69392. According to U.S. Adjutant General's Office, Index to Compiled Service Records of Volunteer Union Soldiers Who Served in Organizations from State of Illinois (FHL microfilm 0881698), Thomas SANDERSON was temporarily attached to Co. B, 78 Ill. Inf. "Cards are filed with 120 Ill. Inf., Co. D." In Adjutant's General's Reports State of Illinois 1861-66 (FHL) is the following: 120th Infantry, Co. D, Private. SANDERSON, Thomas, date of enlistment 15 Aug 1862, date of muster 29 Oct 1862. Residence Gallatin County. Remarks - killed at Greenville, Miss., May 11, 1863. 2. Hi MIchael, I am probably late in this line of communication -- but I was wondering which Chambers line you are researching? Blessings, Judy In a message dated 12/26/2007 11:39:24 PM Central Standard Time, myronwms@charter.net writes: Michael: I suggest you will want to pursue Thomas Sanderson's service record and the possibility that his widow or mother filed a pension claim. Check the site for NARA for details. http://www.archives.gov/genealogy/ You may also check with the Wilson County Archives. If you know his burial site that may lead you to a booklet listing veterans buried in (County). Many of these are listed in the LDS library index at www.familysearch.org. If you are not familiar with the Latter Day Saints and their Family History Centers, you simply MUST become so. If you can determine Mr. Sanderson's unit, the LDS may have a regimental history. You are well started. Happy hunting. Myron E. Williams Crossville, TN Michael Chambers wrote: > Hi All; > > I've just subscribed to this list. 3. Kristi, What website has info regarding the OLD TOWN of Linwood, back in the 1800's - I know it only had a post office for about 5 yrs? There was a blacksmith shop there, and a church that burned? My great grandfather's property (Turner) was located near Bobo Road, just off of the Linwood exit near Lebanon. 1. Re: [TNWILSON] Looking for info on SANDERSON and CHAMBERS lines.
    2. Michael Chambers
    3. Hi Myron; Thanks for the quick reply to my inquiry. I've been able to get a lot more information from the Illinois State Archives than from NARA. That was where I did get his enlistment record, his unit information, and their regimental history. I'm hoping that someone researching families from Wilson County can confirm, and help me with, his parents and the rest of his pedigree. It might be worthwhile trying to determine if his body might have been taken to Wilson County for burial with other members of his family, but since he was killed by ongoing sniper fire from the banks while his unit was traveling down the Mississippi towards Vicksburg, I guess we've just figured that they slid his body over the side, or at best, put ashore to bury him in an unmarked grave. If someone can help me with the location of the graves of Daniel or William SANDERSON in Wilson County, who I mentioned in my original inquiry, I'd like to pursue that idea. As to becoming familiar with LDS, you're absolutely right. I use their software, and with a lot of help from their resources, I have 1,060 people in my GEDCOM. Thanks again, Mike Chambers St. Louis County, Mo. "Myron E. Williams" <myronwms@charter.net> wrote: > Date: Wed, 26 Dec 2007 23:38:15 -0600 > From: "Myron E.
