    3. Mari- I have located 2 Harpoles in Wilson County. Elizabeth Harpole married Peter Moser in Va. and moved to Wilson. Susannah married Adam Moser, also in Va. and also moved to Wilson. I'm sure there were others, but I cannot locate that information. Will look more later. The Mosers are my wife's ancestors. Olivet (Mt. Juliet) Baptist Church in Wilson County, Tennessee. (Others attending this church were William M. Moore and Sarah Moore). Mt Olivet Church was founded in 1801. Elijah moved to the community called Cedar Grove, four miles north of Lebanon, Tennessee, and there he helped found the old Cedar Grove Baptist Church in 1813, and was made the first preacher there, serving until 1841. Besides this he also did other pastoral and evangelistic work. He died in 1866, during the time of the Civil War, in the home of Foster Tucker and was buried at his expense in the old Tucker graveyard." I am looking for information regarding Mt Olivet Church founded in 1801 and the old Cedar Grove Baptist church that was founded in 1813 where he was the pastor. And I am looking for information regarding the Foster Tucker graveyard. ALL of my father’s ancestors lived between Mt. Juliet in Wilson County and New Middleton in Smith County. I am interested in this MOORE couple as William and Sarah are both family names in my MOORE line. However, you should know and research an area of West Wilson County along this same line (the old Trousdale Ferry Road) shown as 141 from Lebanon to Grant, as that is where you will find Tuckers Crossroad. I have a 1933 photo of a family reunion at the school there. John & Rhetta Waggoner with the Smith County Historical Society know almost every ancient burial spot in this part of Middle Tennessee. Contact them in Carthage or check with the Smith County Library and they may be able to point you in the right direction. 3. Thanks, but I am too busy right now to work on my own genealogy unfortunately. My husband's late mother actually did a lot of work on his family, so I haven't ever even attempted his side of things, since my own family keeps me busy enough when I do get the urge to delve into family history, I just leave his alone. Also, Moffitt is actually a maternal line. Not, that it matters much, but he would be a BOULDIN if things had gone a little differently for his great grandmother. They were listed in Culpepper County, Virginia. The reason I think this is so interesting is that I am searching Elijah and his family in Virginia also. We have found him as a adult but not where his parental family lived. And I now found his mother also in this county...Culpeper County, Virginia. The others who I was working with on this never checked Culpeper. They kept looking in Goochland, and one was sure they were from Cumberland. I was amazed at finding the mother. I have the names of the "Moffetts" listed if you want me to send it to you. 3. Thank You Kristi, I also wanted to let you know that I found 4 "Moffett" persons when I was searching the internet a few nites ago. Thanks again, Donna --- Kristi Moffitt <kkcem@blomand.net> wrote: > I found a sketch of Cedar Grove in my book of the > History of Middle > Tennessee Baptists by J. H. Grime. Any information is appreciated. Thank You. 2. Donna Fischer
    3. I just checked one (email) source who wrote up one biographical sketch on my ancestor and his, and these are the churches my ancestor was associated with in Wilson County, Tennessee: "By 1811 he and his wife were attending Mt. Any information is appreciated. Thank You. 3. I have been searching websites and came across this: http://www.tngenweb.org/wilson/churches.html It does not appear to list all the early churches. I do remember reading about the formation of the Cumberland and Concord Associations. If we could find sources that identified the persons included in these organizations it would be helpful. I know that my ancestor was a part of these organizations. Donna --- Anita Barron <ataxleyr@comcast.net> wrote: > I have just acquired a new book "Tennessee's Pioneer > Baptist Preachers" by > J.J. 3. I have just acquired a new book "Tennessee's Pioneer Baptist Preachers" by J.J. Burnett and it speaks of James T. Tompkins as serving in a presbytery in the constitution of the Round Lick Church at Watertown, July 2, 1803. He as also present and took part in the formation of Cumberland and Concord Associations. This is in a sketch of Moore Stevenson, page 491. Hope this helps. Kristi, What website has info regarding the OLD TOWN of Linwood, back in the 1800's - I know it only had a post office for about 5 yrs? There was a blacksmith shop there, and a church that burned? My great grandfather's property (Turner) was located near Bobo Road, just off of the Linwood exit near Lebanon.
