    3. I did a lookup for you in the book, "Marriages of Wilson Co. TN, 1802-1850", by Edythe Rucker Whitley. There are dozens of Johnson marriages that are listed for those years, but the following listed have the same 1st name and middle initial as some of your Samuel Johnson children. 1. John P. Johnson was married to Eliza Mitchell Sept 18, 1827 by German Baker. 2. Samuel G. Johnson was married to Nancy W. Cooper Dec 10, 1829 by the Justice of the Peace with Charlie W. Cooper as bondsman Dec 9, 1829. 3. Mary C. Johnson was married to William C. Brown Dec 24, 1839 by Rev Melkijah L. Vaughn, with Elijah M. Holt as bondsman. 4. Sarah B. Johnson was married to Albert L. Fakes Dec 5, 1839 by Rev Melkijah L. Vaughn, with Hugh Edwards as bondsman Dec 3, 1839. 5. John P. Johnson was the bondsman Nov 26, 1839 for the marriage of Garrett G. Mitchner and Frances H. Avery performed Nov 27, 1839 by Rev R. R. Barden. Hope this helps somehow. Clifton marrying Sarah Ann Calas on 11 Dec 1844. I believe this couple might have relocated to Weakley County Tennessee before 1850 and then on to SouthWest Missouri before 1870. I find the following census records which I believe to be this couple and their children - my comments/notes are in (). 1850 Weakley County, TN - District 10 R.D. Clifton - 28 - Farmer - TN Sarah Clifton - 22 - VA Jesse - 5 - TN Benjamin - 2 TN 1860 - Weakley County, TN - District 10 B.D. Clifton - 35 - Farmer TN Sarah Clifton - 29 - TN Jesse T - 16 TN Jane - 8 - TN Virginia Crook - 20 TN (????) (I presume Benjamin Jr. died) (In both the 1850 and 1860 census this family is living next door to the same families by the last name of Poole. And there are no other Clifton families in Weakley County of similar names/ages in either 1850 or 1860. So despite the minor descrepancies between the details of this family in 1850 and 1860 I'm certain it's the same family.) 1870 - Christian County, MO - Linden Township Ben D. Clifton - 33 - Farmer - TN/TN/TN Margarett Clifton - 28 - IL/TN/IL James M Clifton - 12 - MO/TN/IL Sally - 10 - MO/TN/IL Wilford - 8 - MO/TN/IL Sarah - 5 - MO/TN/IL Jessie - 1 - MO/TN/IL Sarah - 53 - TN/NC/NC - Mother - Widowed (Benjamin D. Clifton obviously died between 1870-1880. This record proves that this Jesse T. Clifton's mother is named Sarah.) (and living two households away) Levi Daily - 29 - IL/IL/IL Sarah J. - 30 - TN/TN/TN Lucy - 10 - MO/IL/TN 1900 Census - Stone County, MO - Cass Township - District 121 Jesse T. Sarah A Clifton - 71 Mother in Law - born Oct 1828 - Widowed - VA/VA/VA - four total children born to this mother, 2 still living. (This record proves that Sarah Jane Daily's mother was Sarah A. Clifton.) In addition there are land patents in Stone and Christian County Missouri for Sarah A Clifton, Jesse T. Clifton, and Levi Dailey from this period. Sarah A. Clifton is buried in Yocum Pond Cemetery in Stone County MIssouri b. 9 Oct 1829 - d. 13 Jun 1910. This cemetery is very near to the locations of her land patent and of the above census. There is no known burial location for her husband Benjamin D. Clifton - who died between 1870-1880. I also note that there seems to be some reason to believe that Sarah Ann's family might have lived in North Carolina for some time before moving to Tennessee as there seems to be some confusion as to where she was born - the location stated varies between Virginia, North Carolina, and Tennessee. If anyone has information that might pertain to Sarah Ann Calas or Benjamin D. Clifton who married in Wilson County TN in 1844 I would be most interested in collaborating with you to either substantiate or disprove them as being the couple shown above. 2. Myron, Myself and my late wife, went to what was referred to as "Roundtop" ages ago when the land at the top of the steep hill was for sale. I recall that there was the stonework, fireplaces, etc. of a burned out house still standing but overgrown. The access "road" (really not much more than a logging trail) was so steep that I had to park my pickup and walk the rest of the way up that steep hill. I did not have four wheel drive at the time, so a normal vehicle I don't think could make the climb. There was no view to speak of because the trees and vegetation blocked it, had the land been cleared then that would have been a different story. Your request made me wonder if perhaps the burned out building may have been an ancestor. All the charred wood had been removed and only parts of the foundation and chimney were still standing and that's probably been 15 or more years ago. 3. Hi all! I'm on the great quest.....and totally stonewalled in Wilson County. It seems that my 4th great grandfather, Joseph C JOHNSON, was born in Tennessee (Sumner or Wilson County) in May 1814. Married Mary Jane Moss in Lebanon, Wilson Co in Sept 1835. Mary Jane MOSS could be the daughter of John Moss and Amah Lawrence, and I believe she is. Joseph's father could be Samuel JOHNSON, who married Sarah or Sally MOSS, but this is not confirmed at this point. Samuel was born in 1779 in what was then North Carolina/Sumner Co TN/Wilson Co TN. It appears he died and was buried in Lebanon, Wilson Co. Any info on any of these would be greatly appreciated. I have much from Joseph on down. Thank you Claire Johnson Griggs
