Tnwilson, Not sure if I'm doing this right - first time responding/writing to the rootsweb.com address. I'm trying to trace the origins of my GGGGrandfather John Sims who was born in VA about 1800, came to Wilson County, TN when very young I believe, married Elizabeth Caplinger in 1824, then moved to Williamson County, IL circa 1838-39. I believe he moved with the Caplinger family and probably other families and settled near Marion, IL. I searched Tennessee marriages in Ancestry on the forename of Angeline. That was its only instance in Wilson Co., while the name was present and popular in the other counties. Regarding CARTWRIGHT, have you any information in the book on the following individuals? 1800: 19 June, James Edwards m. Patsey Cartwright, Sumner County, TN. (Source: ancestry.com "Marriages of Sumner County, Tennessee, 1787-1838") I have suspected this James EDWARDS as a brother to my John. Further . . . 1820: 25 January, John Edwards of Wilson County, sells to Robert Cartwright, also of Wilson, for $125 on the waters of Round Lick Creek, 50 acres. Borders Joseph Tippett's land. Ezekiel Bass and John C. Tippitt witness. John's wife did not sign. (Wilson Co., Tennessee Deed Book H, p111.) Note a Robert CARTWRIGHT married Elizabeth VINSON, 2 December 1810, Sumner County, TN. John EDWARDS' wife was Mary Polly BASS whose mother was Rachel VINSON. We know for a fact that this John EDWARDS (one of 3 in Wilson County at the time!) was the one who lived on Round Lick Creek. The name Samuel Johnson appears 3 times in the following book, "Marriages of Wilson Co. TN, 1802-1850", by Edythe Rucker Whitley Samuel Johnson was the bondsman for the marriage of James Johnson to Elizabeth Nixon Feb 18, 1806. Saml. Johnson was the bondsman March 12, 1829 for the marriage of Absolum Allen to Abby Dill on March 13, 1829. Samuel G. Johnson was married to Nancy W. Cooper Dec 10, 1829 with Charlie W.
