I believe there was a funeral home around Lebanon called Seagraves. Apparently it closed some time in the 60s and another funeral director told me today that he thinks the records for that funeral home are in the county or city archives. Does anyone have knowledge of this? Posted on: Wilson Co. Tn Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tn/Wilson/10739 Surname: Brown, Dunn, Fakes, Hankins, Smith ------------------------- Hi all. Seeking information/descendants of Burt Smith (name thought to be Burtram Trammel Smith) and Sarah Elizabeth "Betty" Fakes (another surname that might have been used is Brown as her mother remarried to a Brown and Betty's son's death record shows his mother as Betty Brown but Fakes was her original maiden name). Both lived in Wilson County. Burt Smith, b. 1835 around Lebanon, died 1908 around Lebanon Sarah Fakes Smith, b. 1844 in Kentucky, died 1918 around Lebanon. Family bible records show they married in, March 1866. They had several children and the Wilson Co., TN. 1880 Census Index book shows this for them: Burtian T. Smith, age 45 - Page 367 (family says the name was Burtram, not Burtian, but he went by Burt) Sarah E., age 36 Nancy L., age 13 (never married) James, age 12 (am in contact with one of his descendants) Sarah F., age 9 William B., age 7 Laura E., age 4 (married a Hankins) Alexis M., age 1 (He was called Lex and family says his name was Alexon, not Alexis. He married Faye Allen Dunn from Kentucky) If any of you know anything about these people or have access to information about the, I would love to hear from you and will share what I have. Thanks! Posted on: Wilson Co. Tn Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tn/Wilson/10737 Surname: SMITH ------------------------- Looking for the family of Rev. William P. Smith, M.D., b. 1795, d. May 18, 1870 in Fayette Co., Texas. Found a William P. Smith in the Wilson Co. 1830 census on page 93. I believe his wife's name was Sarah, and one child's name was Louisa Mae, another may be Robert. Rev. Smith was ordained a Methodist minister in Franklin, Williamson Co., Tn. in 1829. Daughter, Louisa Mae, was b. 1822 in Tn., d. 1865 in Limestone Co., Tx. I have been told there was an early college in Wilson Co. that many men attended. Rev. Smith was a well versed man with writings printed in early Fayette Co., Tx. history papers, and may have attended that college. Rev. William P. Smith, M.D. arrived in Texas in 1835 and was Surgeon General under Sam Houston in the Texas Army, appointed Jan. 1840. I would also like to know the name of the early college in Wilson Co, Tn. Hi all. Once again, I'm posting about my Wilson County ancestors. I just can't seem to find anything on them but maybe I'll make a connection this time. Bert Smith (full name thought to be Bertram/Burtram Trammel Smith but that's not certain) was born in Lebanon in April 1835. I have no idea who his parents were. He married Sarah Elizabeth 'Betty'Fakes (the funeral record for a son shows her maiden name to be Betty Brown-her mother had remarried to a Brown), born February 1844 in Kentucky, in March of 1866. Bert and Betty had the following children: Alexon Monroe "Lex"-born in Lebanon November 1879, married to Faye Allen Dunn on Jan 1904 in Lebanon, moved to Missouri and stayed there, dying in January 1963. William B "Billy"- born June 1872, nothing more known about him James Thomas "Jim"-born May 1868, nothing more known about him Laura Elizabeth- born June 1875, married ? Hankins, died August 1941 Sarah F "Sallie"-born June 1870, died May 1901 Nancy Lou Ella-born December 1866-never married If anyone knows about these people, I'd love to hear from you! Ellis Families I have been unable to find any information regarding the Ellis families in Wilson county 1800 to 1840. Has anybody seen any information regarding these families. I believe they are my line, but can't find any proof other than census and it (of course) doesn't list the children. My 4g grandfather is Robert Ellis and his wife is Mary (?). By 1820, they had at least one daughter, perhaps two (Nancy and Lucinda). Another Ellis, Simeon, may or may not be their child but moved with them to Missouri. He was born about 1823. The Young families traveled with them to Missouri also, and had some children in Wilson county. My 4g grandfather John B Young married Nancy R Vowell in Wilson. Any help and anything anyone may know would sure be appreciated. Thanks Rick rick@rsellis.com

Janey, I do not have the 1850 census at hand, but Thomas Partlow's WILSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE, CHANCERY COURT RECORDS 1842-1892, shows the following entry involving James Coggin which might be of interest. The complaint of John W. White, executor of Josiah White, against James Coggin. Josiah Smith (White?) departed this life on 16 October 1849. Said Josiah White was 85 years of age. For the last eighteen months or so, he was incapable of handling his own affairs. James Coggin, married to a daughter of the said Josiah White (entry says Smith, undoubtedly in error), exercised undue influence on his father in law. Said John W. White wants an accounting for money spent. 15 August 1854 (Chancery Court 1850-1854, Pp. 497-504) {I believe the use of Josiah Smith, twice, is in error both times. This must be the estate of Josiah White, don't you think?) There is nothing listed for the other two names you show.
