    1. [TNWILSON] James McIntyre and Ellen Dillard
    2. Anne Sloan
    3. Oops! I skipped a generation. Sorry about that. We were in the middle of a family crisis involving the dog and the carpet while I was typing it. John Dillard and Sallie Jacobs were Ellen's grandparents. Her parents were Andrew J. Dillard and Lucy Harris. They married 14 Dec. 1856. Andrew was married first to Rebecca Swain on 15 Oct 1845. They had tree children: Sarah J. Dillard, Eudora F. Dillard and Nancy Dillard. The children of Andrew and Lucy are: Ellen, John, William, Greg or Grey H., and Andrew J., Dillard. I can tell you more about the Dillard family but some of the lineage is preponderance of evidence, no direct proof. Sorry about the goof. Anne Sloan

    1. [TNWILSON] James C. McIntyre and the Dillards
    2. Anne Sloan
    3. My family is the Dillard side. Somewhere I have acquired the info that James C. McIntyre was married to Nancy Ward. As best as I can figure out there were three sons, John, William, and James. They married sisters. Eudora Dillard married John, Nancy Dillard m. William Thomas, and Ellen Dillard married James. They were married 4 Aug 1873. All three girls were the children of John Dillard and Sallie Jacobs. Ellen was born in Dec. 1857. The families lived off of the Sparta Pike (Highway 70) in a community that at one time was known as either Dillardtown or Dillardsville. I have corresponded with several McIntyre researchers so you will probably find some additional info from some of them. Anne Sloan

    1. [TNWILSON] Re: Morris'
    2. Hi, My MORRIS ancestors were from Smith/Wilson and Warren Counties. I have many names but the earliest ancestor is E. H. Morris in Smith Co. There is a deed in Smith which lists Elijah, John H. and William Morris as heirs to Thomas Morris. He could be the father or grandfather. The deed also lists an Eliza Birchett who is believed to be Elizabeth Morris Birchett who was married in Halifax Co. NC. There is also a Thomas Morris listed as living in that area. That's where I'd look for your info. Let me know what you find. Hope we're cousins! Mimi Morris

    3. I'm so happy you inquired about this. I have the same situation, where my ggrandfather had a child by another woman. I am certainly trying to find out about the child (my grandmother's half-brother) and any children he may have had. (Incident occurred in Henry County TN) Glad to know someone else has the same kind of situation. (smile) No one in my family would talk about it, either. I found the records quite by accident and when I asked my grandmother, well, she just said that some things were better off left alone, but I could tell she was angry that I found out. Oh, well. Happy hunting. 3. Hi all, I'm sure a lot of you out there have a lot more experience at this than I so I would like some advice. My gr-grandfather, Francis Marion Hatton Lanier, was married but had an affair with a lady named Margie Knight. Out of that affair, a child was born, my grandfather, Malcolm R. Lanier. When I asked my mother for info on Margie, she couldn't give me any since in those days, affairs were taboo to discuss. Should I pursue info on Margie or should I research his actual wife? If I'm to research Margie Knight, does anyone out there have any info on her or have heard the name? I may have found her in the 1900 Wilson Co., TN census District 15. If this is her, her birth year would be Dec. 1885. The entry I found had her living with grandparents, Elias Jennings and wife Rachel, both born in 1834.
