Tn Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tn/Wilson/10804 Surname: Etheridge, Scott, Preslar, McDaniel ------------------------- Where can I buy genealogy books about Wilson Co., Tn.? I am especially interested in Marriages of Wilson Co., Tn. 1802-1850, compiled by Edythe Whitley.
Am researching Christian, Estes, Lasater, Preston, Leftwich, Strange and Early. These are all in the line of my grandfather. Would appreciate any information anyone has and will be willing to share what I have. My grandmother's line is Mount, Weatherly, Huddleston. Also, am interested in any of this information. Thanks, Sarah A. Jenkins, Duchess0715@aol.com
Hi Debora, I don't see that we have corresponded before. See my page below for some information on Patrick FLORIDA/ FLORIDAY/ FLAHERTY/ OFLAHERTY etc. from whom the FLORIDA family of Wilson County descend. I've found the name spelled numerous ways. Patrick definitely married Cassander ALLISON, perhaps a sister to my William ALLISON. By tradition of descendants, Patrick also married a Nancy BYRD. Tom, My grandmother has some family information that was prepared by Lyndal E. Lasater. Her maiden name is FLORIDA and her paternal grandmother's maiden name was LASATER. I have two generations of LASATER's back from my grandmother's grandmother. What I have came from a pedigree chart prepared by Lyndal in June 1992. I hand-copied this pedigree chart, but nothing else. I know this is not the family your orignial post concerned, but I couldn't pass up an opportunity to contact a probable "cousin." :) Sincerely, Debora McPeak Prytula dprytula@bellsouth.net ----- Original Message ----- ========================================== Prepared by: Lyndal E Lasater 1113 East 3580 South Salt Lake City, Utah 84106-2438 801.484.9198 ========================================== Yours, Tom Thomas W Lasater tlasater@overlandwest.com thomas_no_doubt@yahoo.com
I'm a Lanier descendant of Andrew Jackson Lanier, brother to George Washington Lanier. Thanks for the information on George. They both served in Allison's calvary together. I also have found their mother's family as Rideout. They came from Franklin co, NC after 1827 but before 1831. Grandfather is William Rideout, grandmother is Sarah Rideout. Sarah can be found living in Jane Lanier's sister's home in 1850 census. Dolly Cummins. Jane and Dolly also have a brother that came to Wilson Co, Tn. His name is William Hartwell Rideout and can also be found in census information after 1850, 1860, 1870. Andrew Jackson Lanier lived in Statesville area also, as did his descendants. My branch, his son William Thomas moved to Texas in 1920. If any one is researching this line , I'd like to hear from you. Tim Lanier, Texas

Hi everybody, I am looking for the family of John WILSON. Supposed to be around the Nasville area. His wife's names was Anna/Annie. Some of the children may include: Anna M. WILSON, 48F NC, David WILSON, 21M TN, Elijah WILSON, 21M ILL, Burton WILSON, 16M TN, Mary WILSON, 25F TN, Prudy Jane WILSON, 14F TN, John W. WILSON, 27M Farmer TN, Laurinda WILSON, 23F ALA. They were in Itawamba Co. MS in the 1850 census, which is where this ifo came from. John, the husband was not listed with them. Please, can anyone help me on this? Thanking everone in advance for any and all help. Kay in FL.
Hi Dennis, Can you please give your evidence that Robert JENNINGS is connected to Robert JENNINGS of New Kent Co., VA? Connected in what way? Robert JENNINGS was in Rowan Co., NC at least by 1772 when he was in a tax list there. About 1799 he moved to Madison Co., KY where he lived until his death. The will of Robert GINNINGS (not dated) was proved on 4 Aug. 1828. He left one third of his estate, both personal and real, to his wife (not named) during her natural life or widowhood which was to return to his children at her death. To son Williams GINNINGS, Jacob GINNINGS, John GINNINGS, Isaiah GINNINGS and Sally HEATHMAN he left an equal part of all his estate, except $200 to his son Jesse GINNINGS children and $200 to son Thomas GINNINGS children whenever they apply to his executors after his wifes death, namely John GINNINGS, Isaiah GINNINGS, and Jonathan HEATHMAN who he appoints to attend and make sale agreeable to the provisions of the will. Wit.: Samuel WINBOURNE, Robert GINNINGS, Junr., James DIJARNETT. On 8 Aug. 1828 there was an agreement between Catherine JENNINGS with John JENNINGS, Isaiah JENNINGS, and Jonathan HATHMAN, executors of the will or Robert JENNINGS, where they bought her 1/3 part of the estate. The ONLY "evidence" of which I know that Catherine was a SALLEE is in "Documented Notes on Jennings and Allied Families" by Beatrice Doughtie, 711, where she states (emphasis mine) , "IT IS SAID Robert Jennings, Sr. m. Catherine Sallee." It seems there has been a lot of acceptance since her book of that statement as fact. There is SUPPOSED to be a document where on 9 July 1814 Isaiah JENNINGS, Jonathan HEATHMAN and Sally HEATHMAN his wife appointed Stephen SMITH of Pulaski Co., KY to apply for and receive both real and personal estate of John DANCY of Rowan Co., KY which they as legatees had claim to. (Does anyone have the citation for the location of this record?) That raises numerous possibilities and questions: 1. How are Isaiah and Sally legatees? The most likely way would seem by being grandchildren of John DANCY, and their mother was deceased. [John DANCY was a neighbor of Robert JENNINGS in Rowan Co., NC] 2. If Robert named his children in order in his will, then Isaiah and Sally were his youngest children. If their mother was deceased in 1814, then Robert's wife Catherine at his death would not be the mother of ANY of Robert's children. 3. Are only Isaiah and Sally children of a DANCY? 4. If so, who was Robert's first wife? Catherine SALLEE???? Or is this Robert's third wife???? Rick Saunders

Just because the cemetery is not in the USGS database does not mean it does not exist. It may mean they have not received any information about it and have not entered it into their database. I could not find the cemetery my parents are buired in the first time I looked. Then when I began to look harder I found a number of cemeteries missing or mis-named. I contacted the USGS and provided them with proof of the existance of the cemeteries and they updated their database. Some cemeteries are know by different names. Has any one in Wilson county ever heard of this cemetery? How about the genealogical society in Wilson county? Keep hunting. Jackson who served in the War for Southern Independence. (Not many folks know that is what the war was really about). He lived in Wilson Co. from the time he was born (1828) until he moved to Texas in the 1880's. I have written twice to the National Archives for his war record and both times they have sent me a war record for John C. Jackson from Rutherford Co. Do you know where I can get a list of all of the Wilson Co. men who served in Co. H, 38th TN infantry? Maybe he was just "John Jackson". He had many Averett/Mohorn/Mohon cousins who might also have been in the 38th. Thanks, Carole

Hi, I am related to these families of Wilson County. I am a descendant of James H. Vaughan and Elizabeth Britt Jennings-Vaughan. Elizabeth Britt was married to George Clem Jennings II and had 4 boys by this marriage. Fountain Pitts Jennings born abt. 1847 in TN, Wilson Co. William Jennings born abt. 1848 same place James Jennings born abt. 1850 same place Clem Jennings Jr. born abt. 1851 same place My James H. Benjamin was married to Anna Maria Nobre (or Maria Anna Nobre?) in Santarem, Para, Brazil. Benjamin and Edward were born around 1859/1860. Sarah B. Vaughan (Sallie) is my great-grandmother. She was born Jan. 26, 1861 in Wilson County, TN. She married April 20, 1884 in Santarem, Para, Brazil to Fountain Elliott Pitts. She died in 1944. Fountain Elliott Pitts was the son of doctor Josiah H. Pitts that served in 11th TN Infantry/Calvary?, he was the son of the famous Rev. Fountain Elliott Pitts born in Georgetown, KY. His father was a reverend for the Methodist Episcopal Church in TN. Fountain also lived in Wilson County and had kins in Wilson County. Some of the descendants of Sarah Vaughan and Fountain E. Pitts are leaving to go to Brazil in June and returning in July. We are going to travel to the little city where our ancestor lived in exile. When I return I should have more information to share.
