    3. Thomas E. Partlow's WILSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE, CHANCERY COURT RECORDS 1842-1892, has the following entry about Alfred Clark: Marian Clark, a woman of color, versus Alfred Clark, a man of color. Said parties intermarried many years ago. They lived together until four years ago when the defendant left. He promised to send for her and the family, but has not been heard from since. There are five children, two of them are grown. There are three minors, to wit, Fayett, Laura, and Hattie, ages respectively 12, 8, and 7. Said Marian Clark is seeking a divorce. 23 February 1877 (Chancery Book 1876-1892, Pp. 225-226) These records are now at the Nashville Archives and are being microfilmed. They may now be available for copies. 3. Thomas L. Partlow's WILSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE, CHANCERY COURT RECORDS 1842-1892, has the following entries which may be helpful. 1. Bill of complaint of John C. Sypert and Elizabeth Cook, executors of W. L. Sypert, against John J. Strong and wife Roxanna of Davidson Cunty; Mary Ann Rison of Gibson County; John Boners and wife Nancy Jane of Coffee County; Sarah Calloway of Henry County; and Thomas Sypert of Stewart County. Said Sarah Calloway and Thomas Sypert are minors. W. L. Sypert departed this life on 24 April 1871. 14 November 1871 (Chancery Book E, Pp. 295-296) 2. Bill of complaint of W. E. S. Cook against John C. Sypert, executor of William C. Dew. William C. Dew died in February 1868, leaving John C. Sypert as his executor. The Babb Farm was to be divided among three of his nieces, to wit, Roxalana Straughn, James Bowers and Mary Ann Rison. The remainder was to be divided equally between the widow, Ann Dew, and John C. Sypert. The complainant is a niece of said William C. Dew and a sister of the defendant. 5 September 1876 (Chancery Book 1876-1892, Pp. 35-37) I believe that Roxanna Strong and Roxalana Straughn are the same, don't you? I have been told that these records are now at the Archives in Nashville, and are probably ready for copying after microfilming. These are not my family. Just doing a lookup for you. My ancester Joseph Berry was arrested and charged with house breaking, carrying arms and intent to murder in 1876. Also arrested was Alf Clark at the same time. Joseph was cleared of all charges, but I am puzzled why this mild mannered man would have done such an act and who was Alf Clark. Joseph had two daughters die about this time and I don't know from what. I am wondering if these charges had something to do with the death of his daughters, who were teens at the time. Does anyone have a clue. All that is in the court records are the charges and dismissals. Who is Alf Clark? Susan Lane

    1. [TNWILSON] Re: TARVER
    2. Do you have a name or a time frame? There are two Tarver families in the area which may or may not be connected at some point (no one can find the connection though but they did witness each other's legal documents). I don't have my records in front of me so this is from the top of my head. My GGGG grandmother Martha A. Tarver married Samuel H. Riggan. Her father's name was Samuel. I do have siblings names but not on me at the moment. One sibling was Tilmon Tarver who was in Clark County, Arkansas by 1859. I don't go back beyone Samuel Tarver in the early 1800's. Sorry. Also Tarvers at that time would marry first cousins so it is very hard to trace them. It has been a booger for me. cynthiajcline@yahoo.com
