I am trying to locate information about Alice "Allie" Green. I believe she had a sister named Caldonia (like house keepers name in "To Kill a Mockingbird") or Callie and her father might have been B Drury Green. She was born around 1860 and died about 1902. She was married to Edgar H. Arnold. C. B. Cook

Hi, I'm trying to locate information on OLIVER G O'NEAL and ELIZABETH TAYLOR. I believe they were married around 1821.
Bert Smith, (full name thought to be Burtram/Bertram/possibly Bertrand Trammell Smith) b. 1835 in Wilson County (Lebanon), d. 1908 in Lebanon. He married Sarah Elizabeth 'Betty' Fakes (she used the maiden name Brown, also, because her mother remarried to Harrison C Brown when Betty was about 7 years old). in Wilson County. His marriage record says Bertrand Smith. The 1850 Wilson County census shows a Burtrane (?) Smith, age 12 or 15 (I can't tell which), living in the household of James Hatcher(household #979) in the 6th Civil District. The next time I find my Bert is: 1860 Lockporte, Dist 6, Wilson Co., TN p. 304: David Young 32 M/Farmer/Real Property $7000/Personal $1320/b.TN. Elizabeth Young 33 F/b.VA. Francis Young 16 F/TN. David E. Young 13 M/TN/school in yr. Adaline Young 11 F/TN/school in yr. Bertrand Smith 25 M/Farm Laborer/TN. I find Bert/Burt again on the 1880 Wilson County Census which shows the following: Fifth Civil Distrtict, County of Wilson, State of Tennessee Page 10, Supervisor's Dist. No. 3, Enumeration Dist. No. 251 Dwelling 77 Smith, Burtram T 45 farmer TN TN Sarah B 36 keeping house KY TN TN Nancy L. 13 James T. 12 works on farm Sarah F. 9 William B. 7 Laura E. 4 Alexis M. 1 (Denise's note--the name should be Alexon) Now, I know there were a lot of Smiths in that area at the time but I can't seem to place my Bert/Burt with any of them. I have no idea who his parents were. If anyone here has thoughts on this, I'd love to hear from you. This one is making me crazy! :-) Denise's Random Thoughts: Families are like fudge .. mostly sweet with a few nuts.
About a month ago I wrote asking if anyone was researching Rutledge and had some wonderful information from a lady. However, when I try to answer her the e-mail address is not valid. So if Elizabeth is watching would you please send me an e-mail with your correct address ? Thanks everyone. Mary in Florida
Does anyone know the father of Henderson Estes who lived in Wilson Co. TN in the middle 1800's? He was married to Nancy Bond in Rutherford Co. Tn on June 2, 1835 but was in the 1850 Census of Wilson Co.TN. His son William Estes is my great-grandfather b. 28 Mar 1836. I believe that Matthew Estes was the brother of Henderson Estes, and he was a witness at Matthew's marriage to Frances Lassiter in 1837. He was born in VA according to the 1850 census. His children were William, John, Susan, Samuel, Martha, Mary, and Solomon. William and John fought in the Civil War and were taken prisoners by the North at Rock Island IL. John died three weeks after being released in April 1865 from wounds received. I'm not sure of the birth date of Henderson--between 1806 and 1811.
Thank you so much for all the help!! I wish all the rootsweb lists were this helpful!! :)
Helen Gant Donald---The Domesday Book was done during the reign of William, the Conqueror in 1086a. It was so named because it spared none and judged all men without bias, like the Last Judgement. It is a record of a survey of England, listing all landowners and showing the value and extent of their holdings. Charlemagne lived from abt 742 to 814 AD. He established the Holy Roman Empire. In Nashville, an hour or so in the Genealogy Room of the new Metropolitan Nashville Library on Church Street will be WELL worth your time. Parking is available in the parking garage directly behind the library, and the first 30 minutes are free; the rest is very reasonable. You will find some things here that are not available in the State Archives. You can easily walk between the Metro Nashville Library and the TN Archives, which is across the street from the Capitol building - the Westt side. Also, don't overlook the public libarary in Lebanon, on the Old Lebanan Road. It is the only place I've ever found a copy of "The Doormsday Book", which is very valuable to those researching surnames in England during te reign of Charlemagne (sp???) Helen Gant Donald.
The Tennessee State Archives Building is right downtown next to the Capitol Building. You should have no trouble finding it, although you may have a little trouble figuring out their parking system. ----- Original Message ----- From: <VigoINGenes@aol.com> To: <TNWILSON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, February 21, 2002 5:31 PM Subject: [TNWILSON] Re: TNWILSON-D Digest V02 #9 > Where in Nashville do you go to look up genealogy archives??? It is located on Seventh Avenue right beside the State Capitol building. They have lots of books and microfilm, and probably as much on any given place in Tennessee as any other repository. They also have good extended hours, but parking is not easy during the week. Here is a link to their web site. Click here: Tennessee State Library and Archives You might also check out the Wilson County Archives in Lebanon, which is another great resource with original records and many unique things only available there.
