Thanks for the Ward info. The Ozment name seems familiar to me for some reason. One of my family lines is connected maybe but I can't figure which one right now. But my Wards were from the Southwestern corner of Wilson Co. I now. The WARDS, PATTERSONS AND PUCKETTS and ESTES of my family tree all came from that section close to the Rutherford Co. line. My mother used to play near the Stones River but she never learned to swim. These relatives lived near Cainsville or Greenvale, Tenn. Martha W. Ward came from N.C. but I don't know which Co. I thought she might be of Native American descent but am not sure. My mother was dark with large black eyes and brown-black hair. They called her "the little Black Dutch". I never knew what that meant until I got on the internet and heard other people discussing the term. Most think it referred to hidden "Indian" heritage. Many Wards were Cherokee. Thanks, Joan --WebTV-Mail-13811-723--

    1. [TNWILSON] MARTHA C. WARD
    2. My great grandmother was Martha C. Ward who married Charles Bland Ozment in Wilson Cnty 30 Dec.1845. Martha C. was the daughter of Rebecca Dobson, who died about 1850. Rebecca married Jessie Ward in 1823. He was born abt 1795 in SC, and married Rebecca Dobson, Dec.1823, Charles and Martha Ward Ozment also had a daughter, Martha, who died in Davidson after 1900. Charles died prior to that. My great grand mother, Lucinda, was a younger sister of this Martha. John Dobson and his wife Martha are both buried in Suggs Creek Cem. in Wilson Cnty. These families lived in the SW corner of Wilson Cnty. and NW corner of Rutherford Cnty. just East of Davidson. Prior to the flooding of Stones River they were back and forth between these counties. Charles and Martha were in Wilson in 1850 and in Rutherford in 1860. John Dobson's will was filed in Davidson. Most of his property was in Rutherford. I doubt there is a connection here for you but it might help you sort out some of the Wards. Good Hunting Dick Madson, Mesa, AZ
