    1. Re: [TNWILSON] Barr family(s)
    2. Thomas, My family tree includes a Barr family which moved into Wilson County sometime in the very early 1800s. "Green" Barr is named as one of the early Wilson County settlers in Goodspeed's History of Wilson County. I copied the following from my family tree file. This certainly isn't a complete record, but maybe it will give you some useful information. I don't find an Alexander Barr, but, as I mentioned, this is far from complete! There is a website you might like to look at, with information compiled by another Barr descendant: www.BarrGenealogy.com. Good luck with your search! If you discover any more about this family, I'd love to hear from you. I'm still trying to fill in all the gaps!!! Carolyn Descendants of William Greenfield (Green) Barr, Sr. Generation No. 1 1. As there have been several people asking about this type of book, I thought I would post this so others would know that they do exist there. They are hardback books and sell for $5.97 and have several pages for you to record your information in. Hope it doesn't offend anyone that I have posted this as I have been searching everywhere for a book like this and many people have asked me to let them know where I found it at. Surnames: KELLEY/KELLY HICKS Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/UiB.2ACI/836 Message Board Post: My 3 gr grandparents, Noah and Hannah HICKS KELLEY/KELLY were married in Wilson Co TN in 1806. I have a copy of the marriage bond, signed by Richard HICKS-- father of Hannah, Noah, and a witness Jno. ALLCOIN. Noah and Hannah had 9 children, all in TN: George (who died "young"), William (who stayed in TN, so I believe to be the eldest child), James, Silas, Elizabeth, Isaac, Sarah, John, and Noah. The family left from Lincoln Co, TN in about 1829 and moved to Montgomery Co, IL. Noah had a brother Thomas, who married Hannah's sister Elizabeth in TN around 1806. Noah is not listed on any tax or census list that I have checked for TN, though I know they lived there "somewhere". Later censuses list the children's birth place as TN. Anyone recognize this line? I will certainly try to look where you have directed. I wasn't sure what you meant by "a burned county" but from oral history this information seems to fit. "We can't find anything about him before his birth as the court house was burned during the WAR" was repeated on many occasions. This was in reference to William Thomas Crutchfield Williams. I have located a lady the found some information on WTC Williams. She also located another man and they found a common ancestor in their history. Perhaps they are also my kin.<G> This gives me COUNTIES and areas to search. I have NO idea as to religion of the family and only that they [women] attended the Methodist church in MS & LA. The men, my father & his brother, their father and his 4 brothers and their father seldom went to church unless to a wedding or funeral [and not then if they could find what they considered a 'good' excuse] so I have NO idea as to the religious background. If anyone! asked "I'm Methodist" was the answer I heard. I've never considered the possibility of them being Quaker but it has been presented to me from more than one direction lately. Thanks again. Crutch Williams PS - What is your name? I see Pat, but Pat what? and are you man or woman? :-) The name could be either. Perhaps this doesn't matter but if you don't mind I would appreciate knowing! Most of them were Quakers.Very few records survive for that county before the civil war, as that is when the courthouse was burned. The Hanover Co VA list on Rootsweb has a lot of helpful people on it and also if you get a chance you should go to a library where they have the Quaker 6 Volumes(vol 1 is mainly VA ) by Henshaw as they may have your Crutchfield and Williams in it.Also the USGENWEB for VA has Hanover Co with some reconstructed records. The Crutchfields were in VA VERY early . I have found them in some Jamestown records . A lot of the Hanover and Louisa and P.E.Co and also Halifax Co VA residents migrated to Wilson Co Tn and were Quakers there also . Mine went on to Weakley Co and may have MOU and been dismissed . I am still trying to find them. The Hanover names also associated with Williams and Crutchfield are McGehee(Quaker)-Miles-Noone (Quaker)- Bond-and quite a few others. Pat

I am William Crutchfield Williams, II. Son of William Crutchfield Williams [cousin William Crutchfield Brister], son of William Richerson Williams, brother of Thomas Crutchfield Williams, sons of William or Willie Crutchfield Williams, son of William Crutchfield T [Thomas?] Williams who was born 1836[?] near Richmond VA. Probably no KIN but nice to see Crutchfield & Williams in same family. There sure are a LOT of William Crutchfield's. I found that a William Crutchfield settled Mecklenberg Co VA in 1776 but I can find no link to my Williams family. Anyway, just wanted to say HELLO! <G> Crutch Williams Kemah, TX
