    1. [TNWILSON] Compton family
    2. Willie D Smith
    3. I would like to find info on the COMPTON family of Wilson County, TN. Two of my ancestors, Alexander Steele and John Steele (brothers and I'm descended from BOTH of them!) married Compton women. Alexander Steele married August 1806 to Lucy Compton. John Steele, per his War of 1812 pension papers, married Jane Compton in Wilson County in 1810. I have been told these women were daughters of William Compton. Do any of you have info on William and a Vinson Compton in Wilson County, TN??? Where did this family originate? Thanks Will

    1. [TNWILSON] MCLIN, Mary Elizabeth ?-1850
    2. Roger Bartlett
    3. I am trying to learn the parentage of my ancestor, Mary Elizabeth MCLIN, who married Benjamin Michaux CLOPTON in Rutherford County, Tennessee in 1849. She's said to have been born in 1827 in Tennessee, possibly in the Wilson County area but maybe further east. She died in 1850, after less than a year's marriage, as a result of the birth of my g-grandmother, Mary Hester (Mollie) CLOPTON. I would appreciate hearing from anyone with information about her family. Roger Bartlett Austin

    3. I've been searching for the father of Martha WINSTON who lived in Wilson Co. and was married to George HUDDLESTON before coming to TN from Buckingham Co. VA. around 1810. Martha's mother was Sarah Ann Winston who died ca 1840. Martha preceded her mother in death and her heirs are named in her mother's will.(roll 194 microfilm Wilson Co. TN). But who is her father? I thought it was John Winston but can find no records on him. Some say it was Anthony Winston. Was there an Anthony John Winston married to a Sarah Ann with a daughter b. ca 1765 in Buckingham Co. VA? Joan

Later they migrated into Muhlenberg County, Kentucky; Williamson County, Illinois; and Marion & St. Charles Counties, Missouri. 1. [TNWILSON] Re: TNWILSON-D Digest V02 #38
    2. Some time ago, I was able to look up old obits in Nashville, TN papers by searching for a name. Each reference to that name was in red so that you could find survivors, etc., with that last name. Then, somehow when I loaded AOL 7.0, a lot of my Favorite Places was lost and I would like to find that website again. I believe I first learned about it from either the Wilson County digest or maybe from the Rutherford County digest. I sent a post to the Rutherford list a few weeks ago and have not heard anything about it. I'm hoping someone on this list will post it again. It was a wonderful tool as I found obits of some of my high school alums there as well as some relatives. IF any of you know what I am referring to, please let me know how to get to that site again. Thanks in advance, Wilarlie Knight Barto, Huntsville, AL Searching: BILBRO, EWING, FIELDS, KNIGHT, LANNOM, and THOMAS in Wilson Co. (and Rutherford)
