I had no idea of her age - although since she is the same generation as my parents your guess is about right I suppose. Since her grandfather was my great-grandfather I guess we were cousins of some sort. I'll keep looking.

I visited with Mary Kelloway on the phone to see if we were related. Her husband had been deceased for a number of years and I didn't get his name. We focused on the Kelloway history; all she knew of his history was that his family came from Ohio. The family of my grgrgrandfather, Sylvester Kelloway, also came from Ohio, then Wisconsin, then Iowa. I think she was in her mid-80s when I spoke with her; I don't know if she is still living, since we have since moved to the Chicago area and unfortunately didn't keep contact.

Surnames: ELLIS GLANTON Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/UiB.2ACI/850 Message Board Post: Seeking info. on Thomas W. Ellis who married Caroline Glaton in May 1818 in Wilson Co., Tennessee. They were both from SC rumor has it. They only had 1 son, James M. Ellis, born August 11, 1819 in Wilson Co., TN. I think that Caroline must have died young as Thomas later married someone named Martha and had a child by 1825. Any help is appreciated! Below is a bio on their son James in case this helps: ATLAS MAP OF SCOTT COUNTY, ILLINOIS 1873 Andreas, Lyter & Co., Davenport, Iowa Page 36 JAMES M. ELLIS was born in Wilson county, Tennessee, on the 11th of August, 1819, and was the only son of Thomas W. and Caroline ELLIS, both natives of South Carolina. Mr. ELLIS received his early instruction in the log school houses of Tennessee, and at the age of eighteen years (1837) emigrated to Illinois with an uncle, and settled where he now resides. In July, 1839, he was married to Miss Mary Jane LUSBY, daughter of Hugh and Elizabeth LUSBY, natives of Kentucky, and among the first settlers of Scott county. Mr. LUSBY settled, in 1825, on the farm where Mr. ELLIS now resides, which is in section22, township 14, range 13. Mr. ELLIS is one of the prominent farmers of the county, and one who stands high in the esteem of all who know him. They have had ten children, eight of whom are now living-three married; two daughter reside in Morgan county, Illinois. His oldest son, Hugh L., resides in Milton, Pike county, Illinois. Mr. ELLIS has lived to see great changes come over Scott county since he first settled within its limits. The wild, unbroken prairie, decked with its rich exuberances of natural herbage and flowers, and the belts of timber, in which the wild deer roamed unmolested, have gradually given place to cultivated fields and beautiful homes, made happy by the merry hearts of thousands who have since come to possess the goodly land. Mr. ELLIS is in the enjoyment, of good health, and at the present writing is living with the wife of his early choice. May they long live to be a blessing to their numerous family and the society with which they have been identified for so many years.
Hi Wilma, The 1895 Atlas says Dykes was in Roane County (in East TN). 1895 U.S. Atlas: http://www.LivGenMI.com/1895.htm To find if there is or was a Dykes Post Office in Wilson County, TN, have you tried the United States Postal Service? USPS, Ask A Question: http://usps.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/usps.cfg/php/enduser/ask.php Or perhaps the Wilson Co., TN web page: http://www.tngenweb.org/wilson/ Or the Wilson Co., TN Genealogy Depot: http://www.rootsweb.com/~tnwcogs/ Bill Allen <misterbill@pdq.net> mccutcheonw@aol.com wrote: > I gave the wrong location on my request for Dyer, Tennessee. It would be so very helpful if everyone on this list would check their email regularly! ;) Quite a few subscribers have mail bouncing because their mailbox is too full. After 3 bounces, an email address is automatically unsubscribed from the list. So, if your box gets full and mail to you bounces 3 times, you'll be unsubscribed and will need to subscribe again to receive messages. Thanks! Denise
