Hello my David Williams married Nancy Stembridge. I have been trying to find a connection to the David that married in 1812, but have found none. My David was born 1783 and married Nancy in 1838. I believe my James David Williams was married to someone else before he married Nancy. Because David's son David Travis Williams was born 1835 and he has a brother Nathan that was born in 1834. So this is my puzzle and I am not having any luck solving it. I know I am of no help, but wanted to share this info with you. Polly
It is a long shot, but do you know anything about the James Monroe Davis you have listed as a son of Lewis Davis? I have a James M. Davis who married in Wilson County, Tennessee in 1840 to Sarah Wier, daughter of James and Cary J. (Shaw) Wier. James M. Davis is my dead end line. Davis is such a common name, I hesitate to be terribly optimistic unless I know more about James Monroe Davis. Did he live in Rutherford County, Tennessee where his father died in 1834? Any additional information would be appreciated. Erick Montgomery

This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Chappell Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/UiB.2ACI/852 Message Board Post: I saw on the Wilson County, Tennessee Genealogy Depot website http://www.rootsweb.com/~tnwcogs/index.html a family history (copyright by Ann Whalen) of the Chappell Family. Contained within it was a descendancy for James D. Chappell showing him as son of Abraham who was a son of the Abraham who is the son of Robert of Virginia. I am a descendant of James D. Chappell's son Tobias and would appreciate it if someone could supply proof or even evidence of this descendancy. I have not yet seen the evidence for a solid connection from James D. Chappell to the 2 Abrahams and to Robert. I would like to see some evidence of James D. Chappell's parents having been Abraham and Jenny (Dever) Chappell also. Thanks for any help.
Researching the Joplin and Hankins families in Wilson County. Need date of death and place of burial of Confederate soldier Alford/Alfred Hankins. He was born in Shop Springs 1831 and married #1 Lurana Wier, #2 Orpha Thompson. Will gladly exchange. Thank you for any help, Geneio @aol.com
All these names are inter-married with each other. I am looking for Lucy Harris .Her parents or siblings. She married to John S. McGehee in VA and came about 1813 to Wilson Co TN. John had brother Carr McGehee and the Carr's are married several times in to this family in VA both in Louisa and Albemarle Co. Anyone having a Lucy Harris born abt 1778 in VA would like to hear from you.Her father possibly Nathan Harris. Also from Carr on the migration from Albemarle VA. Thanks Pat.

Bob, I would like to help you but DAVIS is an extremely common surname. For example there are more than 25 Davis household on the 1840 Census alone. I could not possibly do lookups for ALL Davis in Wilson Co. In order to help, I must have some 1st names and approx dates. Also, do you think that they remained in Wilson Co or did they migrate by a certain date. I will be happy to checkout specific names for you. Let me know. Evelyn, Here what I find on the names David or Elizabeth Williams in Wilson Co before 1850: From "Marriages of Wilson Co TN, 1802-1850" 1. David Williams married Betsey Hoozer June 23, 1812. Geo. Rogers BM. 2. David Williams was the bondsman for the marriage of Jeremiah Jadwin and Elsey Rogers June 24, 1815. 3. David Williams (a son perhaps?) married Nancy Stambridge October 4, 1838. Gregory Smith BM. 1840 Census of Wilson Co Elizabeth Williams males 100101 females 00010101 Index to Wills of Wilson County, 1802-1861 shows that: 1. An Elizabeth Williams had a Will in probate in the year 1842. 2. Jackson Vanhoozer had a Will in probate in the year 1856. You can order copies of Wills from the Wilson Co Archives in Lebanon for a small fee. Do you have the names of any of Jesse's siblings? Are you interested in Valentine VanHoozer who died in 1861? Sorry I couldn't find more. According tothis book they had 9 children,, Alexander George Mary Mollie Monroe Samuel Elby Rudy Andrew marr to Elsie Hale...... My children's line I am now looking for any connection's to those listed above and for the gg- grandparents parent's They were Alexander b/1807and Nancy George Blythe. This was Alexander's second marriage. He was first married to Elizabeth Kelly Thanks for any help and please consider all spellings....
I also have an Elizabeth Cook from Wilson Co. TN. She was with William Leeman when he came into AL from NC around 1813. I am fairly sure that she was indian, or at least a good part indian, because after William's death there were references in his estate to her children being 'half-breeds' and/or 'half-bloods'. Williams lst. wife died in NC about 1807 so they would have met between 1807 and 1813. And leads at all would be appreciated. I have no further information on Elizabeth but would like to know who her family is.. Does this sound like your ancestors? If so I would appreciate any information you would share. >Harold Cheek aacheek@srcaccess.net > > >==== TNWILSON Mailing List ==== >TNWILSON Website >http://www.rootsweb.com/~tnwilson/ >TNWILSON > >
