    1. [TNWILSON] Hunter, Harvel, Chambers, Watkins
    2. I am glad to hear from a descendant of William Wright Hunter, who was a brother of my ancestor, Mary Ann Hunter (b. ca. 1853), wife of William Asberry Davis. William Wright and Mary Ann Hunter were children of Edward Nicholas Hunter and Rachel J. Harvel. After Rachel died, "Ned" as he was called, remarried to Mrs. Sarah Ann (Joplin) Tomlinson, widow of James Tomlinson. They lived on Lock 5 Road near Hunter's Point. (Coincidentally, Sarah Joplin and James Tomlinson are also my direct ancestors). Edward N. Hunter was a son of Wright Hunter and his second wife, Elizabeth Chambers. Wright Hunter came to Wilson County from Duplin County, North Carolina, as did the Chambers. Wright and Elizabeth were related, her mother Ann/Annie/Fannie Hunter (wife of Lewis Chambers) being a daughter of Nicholas Hunter of Duplin County. Wright Hunter's father was William Hunter, also of Duplin County. William and Nicholas Hunter of Duplin were believed to have been brothers, and sons of Job Hunter. I have worked on the Harvels without too much success. I think Rachel was very likely the daughter of Peter Harvel (Harvil, Harville), who married Sarah Watkins in Wilson County in 1818. Sarah, or Sally was apparently the daughter of Reece and Rachel (Martin) Watkins, who came from Campbell County, Virginia, first to Smith County, Tennessee, then to Wilson County, Tennessee, and ended up in Butler County, Kentucky. I think William S. Harvel of Butler County, Kentucky was probably Rachel's brother, and a Linda Harvel who married a Ramsey there was likely Rachel's sister. But there is still much to sort out on the Harvels. I would be delighted to exchange information on these folks. Erick Montgomery

Mail bounces for a variety of reasons but one of the most common is a full mail box. Please, check your email regularly! If you are automatically unsubscribed, you will be sent email but it may not do much good as it will probably bounce, too! We do not have a "no mail" mode so if you leave on vacation or get busy with summer activities and can't check your email, please unsubscribe from the list and subscribe again later. I will be visiting Aunt Lena in Pocola tomorrow (Thursday). I am taking her the Ward book I just finished. It has the Ward's/Bowman's/Green's/Taylor's/Dodd's/Coen's, etc. I only have the one copy but will be printing additional copies in the fall. Are you interested? There is some great stuff with really old photos from Aunt Lena and other family members. I could send you copies of some selected pages/families if you are interested. I do have my copy with me. Aunt Lena is getting up in years and I had promised her for two years that I would write something on the Ward's and I knew I could not wait any longer. Have a great trip to Oakland. Wish I was there. Take care and do get back to me soon. I will only be able to get to check my email once a week after Saturday. Bye for now, BARB

William Wright Hunter (born circa 1849) married Sophronia Smithwick in Wilson County. Sophronia died at a young age. Children Lillard, Walter, Humphrey Leona. Would anyone have access to the 1850 census and be willing to do a lookup for me? Edward Nicholas Hunter and his wife and baby son William lived in Kentucky when the 1850 census was taken. They lived in Lebanon, Wilson County before and after and the family's roots go deep into Wilson County, we believe. We know nothing of the Harvel family, but are interested in them. Some of the Grier family m. into our Wilson family after they and some of the Thomas family moved to Gibson Co. One of the girls from the Thomas family also married into our Wilson family in Gibson Co. Is this the same Thomas family who married into the Griers in Wilson Co? 3. Pat, I think I had info that showed Reuben was a brother and cousin of James Poe. James father and uncle may have named some of they're kids with the same name and their children named their kids after their father or uncle. It is very confusing. Some of the Poes left NC for Ohio. I lost that info and can't remember were I got it. Try the LDS site or typing Poe in the URL or other search engine. If I find info; I'll let you know.
