    1. Dr. Francis Moore Sr. & Harriett Moore Page, b 1810 NY
    2. Teresa Harris
    3. Looking for parents and siblings of Harriett Ann Moore Page (b 1810 NY) who married Solomon Calvin Page (supposedly a cousin) in 1829 in Nashville, TN. Harriett's father may have been Dr. Francis Moore Sr. and her mother Rachel (maiden name unknown). It is believed she had brothers, Francis Jr., George, Abram, John David and possibly others. After her marriage to Page, Harriett moved to New Orleans, and later to eastern Texas before her 1902 death in Covington, LA. She was also married to Robert Potter and Charles Ames. Dr. Francis Moore Sr., and later, Dr. Francis Moore Jr (who was an early Mayor of Houston, TX), lived for a period of time in New York. Thanks, Teresa

    1. Re: James L. Murry, Wilson & Rutherford Counties, Tennessee
    2. Teresa Walker
    3. Sherry, there are several entries for Murry in Thomas E. Partlow's WILSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE, CHANCERY COURT RECORDS, 1842-1892. These may be information you already have, but I will send them along just in case. They are not my line. Just did a lookup for you. 1. Bill of complaint of James W. Hardy, curator for Rurie and John Murry of Missouri against Eddie S. Hilliard, formerly Eddie S. Murry, of Texas; Rurie and John Murry of Texas. John Murry died in Wilson County, leaving a widow Amy, for life and then to his children. Amy Murry died in 1868. 6 March 1873 (Chancery Book 1872-1873, Pp. 428-429) [This is a little confusing. I believe James W. Hardy lives in Missouri, and he represents Rurie and John Murry who are living in Texas. Is this the way you read it? Also, I assume that Eddie S. was a woman, and that Amy should be Anny, or vice versa.] 2. Bill of complaint of E. E. Beard, guardian of Cora Murry, Rurie Murry, and John Murry against Eddie S. Hilliard. John Murry died, leaving a life estate to Anny Murry. The land was partitiioned between the heirs of John Murry and William Murry. William Murry was the father of the defendant and he is now dead. 15 October 1873 (Chancery Book 1871-1874, Pp. 72-73) There are a few other entries for Murry and Murray, with different names (J. L.; Jane; L.; M.; G. W.; J. L.; J. W.). If you would like these, let me know and I will be happy to transcribe them for you. There is a long list of entries for Hays, including one which names the heirs of Hugh Hays who died in May of 1845. Would these be of interest to you? Take a look at this for example of how difficult it will be: In 1775 this was a frontier County and was considered to extend with the territorial limits of North Carolina to the Mississippi. Its early inhabitants were the devoted friends of American liberty. Thomas Stubblefield received land May 1769 in Orange Co. NC by his father. He sold this land (which was then in Caswell Co. NC) in October 1775 after moving to Surry (now Wilkes Co.) NC. 1775, May 20. The Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence was issued, which influenced men south of 36ø30' in Surry County, which then embraced the sparsely settled Upper New River Valley in North Carolina. That is the kind of convoluted information we have to work with. I think I will go take an aspirin <grin>

These 3 Cumberland counties constituted "Mero District" (Ramseys Annals of Tennessee) AND: In 1790 Col. Andrew Jackson was the Davidson County representative from TN to Congress. In 1797 TN was made one district—Tennessee District. (Ramseys Annals...) AND: West Station Camp Primitive Baptist Church was organized sometime prior to November of 1796. For in November of 1796, it entered into the constituency of the "Mero" Baptist Association. Some sources say it constituted as early as 1790. "Mero District" was the first Baptist association of Middle Tennessee. West Station Camp was the first Baptist church organized in Sumner County and one of the first five churches organized in Middle Tennessee. It was located on West Station Camp Creek near or halfway between Cottontown and Shackle Island northwest of Gallatin. These areas include: Davidson County (1783), Sumner (1786), Tennessee County (1788), Military Reservation or North Carolina Military Reservation, Cumberland Settlements, Washington County (1777), "Mero District" and the Mountain District. Tennessee County surrendered its name when the State of Tennessee was created in 1796. At that time, Tennessee County was divided into two new counties, Montgomery and Robertson. Cumberland Settlements. This refers to settlements along the Cumberland River. Military Reservation, or North Carolina Military Reservation. Just following the Revolutionary War, North Carolina created this “Reservation” to pay her veterans, or as she stated, was “for the relief of the officers and soldiers in the continental line.” The Cumberland Settlements would fit inside the Military Reservation, as would Davidson, Sumner, and Tennessee Counties. "Mero District". The early name of the Judicial District that served the Cumberland Settlements. Washington County. Although this county originally covered all of Tennessee, this would not be an appropriate place to post an early Washington County query. Try our East Tennessee , pre 1796, query page. Mountain District. This refers to the Cumberland Mountain or Plateau. Historically, North Carolina called this area, her “Middle District.” This area was Cherokee country until 1806 and latter, queries for this area should be posted to an appropriate County Page.
