TN genealogy books I own. As you will see from the source documents below, the James Bond on the 1850 Census had married a Sarah Clemmons in 1824. Sarah was a widow with at least 2 children (Leland and Presley Clemmons) when she married James Bond. This James died in 1852 and Sarah died between 1866 (when she wrote her Will) and the 1870 Census. Harvey Bond and Nancy Bond Phillips were, apparently, the only children James and Sarah had together. Harvey Bond was dead before 1866 when his mother wrote her Will. _________________________________________ 1. From the booklet, "Index to Wilson Co TN Wills and Administrations, 1802 - 1861", by Sistler: James Bond had records in Probate Court in 1852. (Sarah was a widow on the 1860 Census) _______________________________________ 2. 1860 Census of Wilson Co. TN Cainsville - Sally Bonds is living alone, age 67, b. SC, farmer, real estate $1,500, personal property $3,900 (value of Slaves) 1860 Slave Schedule shows that Sally Bond owned 6 Slaves: Females ages 50 and 6, males ages 25, 23, 21, 8, and 4. The 1850 Slave Schedule showed that James Bond owned 8 Slaves: Females ages 42, 19, 7, 5, and 1; males ages 15, 11, and newborn. Sally is not on the 1870 Census of Wilson Co. TN. _________________________________________ 3. From the book, "Marriages of Wilson Co. TN, 1802-1850", by Edythe Rucker Whitley (there are 2 entries for the name James Bond) James Bond was the bondsman for the marriage of John Bond and Sarah CUMMINGS Oct 5, 1808. James Bond was married to Sarah CLEMMONS Dec 28, 1824 by Rev. Joshua Lester with William Bond as the bondsman. (comment - this is the James and Sarah Bond listed on the 1850 Census of Wilson Co. TN.) (See Will of Sarah Bond - she had children named Clemmons so she must have been a widow when she married James Bond) ______________________________________________ 4. I grew up in Wilson County (eastern side) very near Lindsley Road. An old man (now deceased) named John Thomas Arrington once told me that Lindsley Road was named after the Lindsley family. He story went the Lindsley family inherited about 10,000 acres from a Revolutionary War land grant. If I'm not mistaken I think his story went on that there were three girls in this family? I think one married a Waters (which there is still a big farm there), one married a Sellers (there was a big farm there) and the other I don't know? Mr. Arrington was a pretty sharp guy and I feel like there would be plenty of validity to his story. His wife (Janelle Arrington) still lives in their house on Poplar Hill Road and I'd say her telephone number is in the Lebanon book as J.T. Arrington. Lindsley Road is about 3.0 miles East of I-40 off of Highway 70 (Sparta Pike or Watertown Highway). Could be a long shot? Mark [email protected]

Earlier census years only have the name of the head-of-household and they list other individuals in the household in sex and age categories.

My great great great grandfather was Solomon TAYLOR, b. abt. 1790 NC. His wife's name was Esther. They were married before 1810 when their son Howard was born. I am seeking a marriage record for them and would be very grateful for a lookup. Solomon is listed in the 1820 Wilson Co. census living near Elisha TAYLOR. He is also in the 1830 & 1840 Wilson Co. censuses. There were other TAYLOR individuals listed in the censuses and I wonder if Solomon's father was also living in Wilson County but I do not know who his parents were. Help on my TAYLOR family is much appreciated. Sincerely, Jeanne Johnson
Suggestion: Do a google.com search for *tyree family* Even though the contributors may know nothing of your Tyree family, no doubt they can provide you with some leads, as in order to select their earliest families, they probably have had to sort through many a Tyree listing. Try the same google.com search with McWhirter. A good many Tennessee early settlers came from North Carolina, and you may find some clues there, particularly in LAND records. More and more land entries and grants of North Carolina have been published particularly by Margaret M. Hofmann [note spelling] Check with a nearby public library to see if any of them subscribe to a genealogical database--online. It is called HeritageQuest. It has many of the US censuses on it--but not all have been indexed. If you have a library card (with a number on it) from a subscribing public library, then you can access the database from your home computer. It is a good way to find people in the pre-1850 census [which has not yet been indexed].. Good luck. E.W.Wallace whose folks used Tennessee as a *pass-through* state, not sticking around very long
