I'm looking for information on Eliza Burns, b. 1822, daughter of (?) Burns and Eliza Potts. She married Louis (Lewis) Wesley Sherrill on 5 Oct 1842 in Wilson County. She died 1901-02 at a daughter's home in Nashville. The daughter was probably one of her twins, Mary E. Champeon, b. 1848, (issue Walter Champeon) or Martha A. Jacobs, b. 1848. Louis and Eliza are in the 1850 Census for Wilson Co., District 10, with my gg-grandfather James Payton, and the next three children. I know there are a lot of Burns in Rutherford County, but I don't know anything about Wilson County Burns. Does anyone have any information or can you point me in the right direction? Thanks

From the same source as in my previous email is this about Gideon Carter: Bill of complaint of John Logue against Moses M. Curry, James Curry, Gideon Carter and wife Rebecca, the widow of Ezekiel Curry, of Wilson County; Susan Woodrum of Montgomery County; John H. Curry, Sr., of Davidson County; Newton Curry and John Curry, Jr. of Williamson County. Ezekiel Curry died intestate in 1843. He left no children, but four brothers as heirs or heirs of four brothers. Brothers are Moses M., Newton who is dead, leaving one child who died after the father, leaving the mother Jane. James Curry, the other brother is dead, and his heirs are not known. 26 September 1873 (Chancery Book 1871-1874, Pp. 89-90) Hope this is helpful. I don't know anything about a distillery, nor even about R. S. Haley. I just did a lookup for you in Thomas E. Partlow's WILSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE, CHANCERY COURT RECORDS 1842-1892. Mr. Haley appears to have also been a constable. The following is the only listing for Robert S. Haley. Bill of complaint of James T. Gambill, William Atkinson, and William A. Robinson against David M. Blankenship of Dekalb County, Ralph Martin, B. W. G. Winford, James Hamilton, S. M. Tompkins, executor of Ed Tompkins, and Robert S. Haley, constable. Injunction. 18 August 1865 (Chancery Court 1865-1867, Pp. 548-551) Just a little tidbit to add to your information. BONDS PHILLIPS was the daughter of James Bond and Sarah Clemmons BECAUSE 1. James Bond and Sarah Clemmons married in 1824. 2. The 1850 Census shows that Nancy P. Bond Phillips was born in 1829 - 5 years after James married Sarah. 3. The WILL of Sarah Clemmons Bond names Nancy Phillips as HER daughter. Yes, this James Bond could have been married prior to his 1824 marriage to Sarah Clemmons, but the Nancy in questions is a child of this 1824 marriage - not of a prior marriage. Re Absala and Absilly they are nicknames or abbreviations for the Biblical name Absolum / Absolom. Good luck in your search for Nancy Mathews.
