But she seems to be considering road miles; I was estimating distance as the bird flies to the nearest point which appears to be near Roan Mountain. Reconsidering my estimate, it probably should be 40 miles. In any case it is not near the current state line.

    3. Have you found any other Kincaids or Linns on the 1850 census? If their marriage was on July 3, 1850, they should not rightfully have been shown with this family, even though they lived there.. The census taker was only supposed to list the people in the household BEFORE June 1, 1850. It is possible that the Linns were listed separately, and Ann Elizabeth could have been listed with them, also. It is not uncommon that some people are counted twice due to being married or moving after the cutoff date or between visits from the census taker. You might give that a try in searching the census records. Good luck in your hunt. Here is my situation. My Joseph L. Wilson was born in NC in 1808. In 1827 he was married. His first daughter, Rebecca, was born 1828 NC.. His second daughter, Mahala was born 1834 NC.. His third child, a son was born 1835 NC.. Then comes his fourth child, a daughter Tempy was born 1839 TN.. By 1840 they all had removed to Missouri. Now, my question. Tempy the fourth child shown born in TN. 1839 and the third child Tilman born 1835. Could possibly the third and fourth children have been born in the same home and only shown born in two differerant states due to the change in the borders? They appear to have been born in Morganton, Burke Co. NC... Could this town between 1835 and 1839 been bordered out of NC. and become part of TN. ? Thanks much, Bob Wilson, Michigan

    3. Mr. Partlow's book WILSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE, CHANCERY COURT RECORDS 1842-1892, has two entries for David and Elizabeth Young; however, this Elizabeth Young's maiden name was Petway. If these would be of interest to you, let me know and I will gladly transcribe them. I've searched for where Francis Ann Young Brown was buried, and I hoped if they stayed in one spot, it might be easier to find her. She apparently died, possibly in childbirth, sometime between 1850 and 1853, when Neely married Harriet. And, Neely himself disappears after 1870, presumably in Sumner County. If they moved as often as it sounds like they did, they could be anywhere! Thanks for your help. Jayne
